Talk:Leo (2023 Indian film)

Request to update box office section

The current article is reflecting wrong box office numbers. I request an update using reliable independent sources.

Suggested replacement:

Leo reportedly grossed **₹615 crore worldwide**, according to [Pinkvilla](https://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/box-office/top-highest-grossing-indian-films-worldwide-allu-arjun-starrer-pushpa-2-overtakes-rrr-for-third-1363095). It earned **₹461 crore worldwide in its first 7 days**, as per [Hindustan Times](https://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/tamil-cinema/leo-box-office-collection-day-7-vijay-film-earns-rs-461-crore-worldwide-101698378526645.html). By its 25th day, it crossed **₹600 crore**, according to [Indian Express](https://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/tamil/leo-box-office-collection-day-25-vijay-lokesh-kanagaraj-film-crosses-rs-600-crore-mark-9024940/). Trade tracker [Sacnilk](https://www.sacnilk.com/news/Blockbuster_Leo_Final_Worldwide_Box_Office_Collection_and_Records) estimates a **final total of ~₹605 crore**, with regional breakdowns. Media critics have also pointed out the lack of transparency in Tamil cinema’s box office reporting.

Thanks for reviewing. RasihanRK (talk) 21:18, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: you have not addressed the concerns for your sources from the previous request. See this disucssion for why Pinkvilla and Sacnilk are unreliable. (the claim sourced by Hindustan Times is already in the article) Alpha Beta Delta Lambda (talk) 21:42, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hindustan Times itself gets the data from sacnilk and Pinkvilla. The point is we don't have anyone other firm to report across india.
Since, you asked for proper source .Here I attach the declaration by producer as this film is highest grossing film of the year 2023.
Which means, it must've done 620+
Or tell me which source you considered as reliable
Between I don't know whoever managing/updating this page but the box office source they put is totally abrupt..see they actually used BOI as a source and that too a wrong one(salaar's)😭

@RasihanRK producer statements are considered unreliable. List of reliable sources is available at WP:ICTFSOURCES, except in cases of WP:FRUIT. Vestrian24Bio 05:33, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@RasihanRK,
  • BOI source says, Basically the film is third to 2.0 and Jailor in India and that is the case in overseas also but in the home market of Tamil it has beaten both the two big Rajnikant grossers. - Leo is 3rd in India and worldwide.
  • Deccan Chronicle states 615 crore.
  • Hungama only talks about the collection in Tamil Nadu.
  • TOI is an unreliable source for BO figures.
Vestrian24Bio 12:43, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then update Home market level😂.. What stops you??
TOI not market as unreliable in this list - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Film/Indian_cinema_task_force#

@RasihanRK, TOI is marked in yellow. Green ones are the mostly reliable sources.
Which part of Leo is 3rd in India and worldwide. - can't you see, there's no reliable source saying otherwise. The sources talk about Tamil Nadu collection, maybe you have language problems. Vestrian24Bio 04:13, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But that doesn't mean TOI is unreliable, as per their notes we can use that for additional consideration.

Greens are the one unreliable .. can't you see? Anyway leave TOI,

What about other sources? RasihanRK (talk) 04:32, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@RasihanRK green colored are the reliable sources, except if they fall under WP:FRUIT. Vestrian24Bio 05:43, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Always leaving main context of my replies...why??
Is colours are main context of my previous reply?... definitely no RasihanRK (talk) 08:18, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@RasihanRK, Leo is 3rd in India and worldwide, you haven't provided any reliable source against it. Vestrian24Bio 12:40, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am unable to find any source to confirm Leo movie's collection is 595cr on internet. The reliable sources show it is around 395cr - 415cr. I feel Vijay's movie's collection details are fake and inflated.

"Add this new and additional content" Film distributor Tirupur Subramaniam stated that Leo did not turn out to be profitable for distributors in Tamil Nadu, citing that Seven Screen Studio had demanded an unprecedented 80 percent share of the film's revenue from theatre owners. This led to protests from theatre owners across Chennai, who initially refused to screen the film. After negotiations, the theatre owners were persuaded to showcase Leo, allowing its release despite the initial dispute over revenue sharing.
