A banned user had made a comment saying that there was a contradiction in the 1947 section about Robinson received a mostly positive, but mixed reception from the press and fans. Sadly, I think the banned user had a point, if not for the reason they thought. The two sources really didn't adequately support the sentence, so I removed it. The SABR article's mention of the press' reaction to him is about his initial signing and a campaign against him from some sources when he was about to start in the International League, not before his first MLB season.
The source also doesn't mention general MLB player reaction, though it does cover the planned Dodger boycott and issues from Cardinals and Phillies players that are mentioned later in this section. The second source there was a reprint of media articles after his first game; it strikes me as OR to derive a general press reaction from such an article, as the sample size is inherently limited. As I said, I took the sentence out for now; please re-add it if you can find a better reference for it. Giants2008 (Talk) 18:32, 16 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
