Disambiguation link notification for February 9
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Persian–Dutch War, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Persian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It started today on Monday June 16 and will run until Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:05, 16 June 2025 (UTC)

The article Siege of Erivan (1616) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Seems to be sourced, but the two sources which can be looked at mention nothing of a Siege at Erivan in 1616.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - Studies on Iran and The Caucasus p 92‐93
- The Ottomans launched a powerful offensive into the Caucasus in 1616 (Tucker 2010: 566). Pietro Della Valle, an Italian traveler in Iran during the time of Shah Abbas, reports the Turkish invasion force standing at 200-300,000 troops (Safa 1969: 343-348). The aim of this force was to capture Yerevan defended by 60,000 Iranian troops (Goodrich 1896: 127). The Ottoman siege of Yerevan was a fail-ure, forcing the Ottomans into a costly withdrawal in early 1617 (Clodfelter 2008: 61). Valle reports the Iranian Tofangchi musketeers as having played a key role in repelling the Ottoman assault (Šafă 1969: 343-348).
- Blow 2009 p 106-107
- A large Ottoman army under Mehmed Pasha laid siege to Erivan at the end of August In Shah Abbas harried the Ottoman supply lines and in November, with winter approaching, Mehmed Pasha lifted the siege and withdrew, many of his soldiers dying of cold on the way. This failure led to Mehmed Pasha's downfall. His successor as grand vizier, Khalil Pasha, led a fresh assault on Iran in 1618, supported this time by Tartar and Georgian contingents. But first of all he sent an ambassador to the shah in Qarvin, offering to withdraw if Abbas surrendered his conquests.

- Mehmed Pasha laid siege to Yerevan in 1616. Yet the Ottoman army failed to take the city
- Conflict and Conquest in the Islamic World p 699
- The Safavid failure to deliver the silk served as a pretext to the resumption of hos-tilities in 1616. An Ottoman army besieged Erivan (Yerevan) in 1616, but was repulsed and forced to withdraw. In 1618, the Turks attacked in the direction of Tabriz, but they were defeated at Soltaniyeh. Afterward peace negotiations began, resulting in the Treaty of Sarab (1618), which confirmed the terms of the previous peace treaty.

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

November 2025
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Battle of Kafir Qala (1719). This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.
Important points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.
You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. The Bushranger One ping only 22:57, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- my bad, I apologize Iranian112 (talk) 08:09, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Iranian112 The person you were fighting an edit war with was Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Yasin1747, who has been evading blocking for a long time. Afghan history is also included in the extended confirmed restriction – WP:CT/SA, meaning only users with extended confirmed can edit such articles. If you see vandalism in these articles, feel free to request protection of the page here, as I just did. [1] Kajmer05 (talk) 20:32, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
