Talk:Extreme poverty

Misinformation

The charts by Our World in Data on extreme poverty are a form of misinformation called 'data obscura,' and positioned to support an overoptimistic view of poverty over time and of current levels. Today, there are about 5 billion people treading the poverty line -- this is not progress. Please see my article at --> https://ijhssnet.com/journals/Vol_15_2025/21.pdf (COI here) that delves into this topic and consider citing it as a refuting source. This is a vital topic and OWID's charts are impacting the public's worldview -- in the wrong direction: Humanity is far more impoverished today than in 1820. Roberts, W. S. Stub?

This article is a stub in my opinion. Full of numbers which easily can point in the wrong direction. Sustainability? Equality? It looks like somebody wants to crawl in the ass of Worldbank.

The last sentence (!) states: "Cash transfers appear to be an effective intervention for reducing extreme poverty, while at the same time improving health and education outcomes."

I mean, REALLY? 123qweasd-tk (talk) 15:49, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
