Merge proposal

I propose merging Media (communication) into Means of communication. The topics are very similar to one another. No opinion of which title is best, but I think it's worth discussing. Interstellarity (talk) 02:04, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

– I am initiating this discussion to get a consensus on what the best article title for this article is. Someone added media into the lead, but I reverted because I wanted to discuss it on the talk page. When I merged the articles together, there wasn't much discussion on what the titles of the articles should be. I also believe that this is the primary topic for media, since it usually refers to things like communication and mass media. I am hoping that I can get some input from other editors and hope that we can come to a consensus. Interstellarity (talk) 22:22, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak oppose: The institutions of mass communication are also referred to as "media". For example, people often refer to television, radio and web news services as "media". The suggested primary topic is a poorly written essay that lacks a coherent subject. Both it and the disambiguation page need work. Although the term presumably is derived from the idea of a medium used for communication, it is not clear that the term primarily refers to that in current use. — BarrelProof (talk) 23:12, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Per WP:DPT, let's look at some stats.
Clickstreams at Media show the proposed primary topic on top, followed by Media (region), and the subtopics of the proposed primary topic. It's interesting that the readers found the Iranian region, because it was stashed away really badly near the bottom. I think I improved it now - maybe it could be improved further.
All-time mass views for all linked topics show three topics with a larger readership than the proposed primary topic, social media, mass media and multimedia. Seems to me that mass media is broadly associated with just "media", while others would be a little bit unfocused.
Overall it does seem like the broad concept of communication is the primary topic here, though some discussion of long-term significance compared to the region would be necessary, too. Is the proposed target article a good WP:BCA for the communications meaning of "media"? --Joy (talk) 10:58, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It may be worth noticing that the disambiguation page has been structured in a way to steer readers toward the proposed primary topic. All other communication-related topics have been presented as sub-topics of that one, in a way that I think is not so accurate in practice. — BarrelProof (talk) 14:39, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

" 'Less than one' sender"?

Phrase used in mass media subsection. Confusing. No explanation or citation given. KayB2323 (talk) 10:39, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
