Hughesi medali on teadusauhind, mida annab välja Londoni Kuninglik Selts "tunnustusena originaalse avastuse eest füüsikateaduste, eriti elektri ja magnetismi vallas või nende rakenduste eest".[1] David E. Hughesi järgi nimetuse saanud medal antakse koos 1000 naela suuruse rahalise preemiaga.

Esimene medal anti 1902. aastal Joseph John Thomsonile "arvukate panuste eest elektriteadusesse, eriti gaaside elektrilahenduse nähtuste uurimise eest". Kokku on auhinda välja antud üle saja korra. Erinevalt teistest Kuningliku Seltsi teadusauhindadest ei ole Hughesi medalit mitu korda antud samale isikule.

Üksikutel aastatel on medali saanud mitu inimest korraga. 1938. aastal pälvisid selle John Cockcroft ja Ernest Walton[2], 1981. aastal Peter Higgs ja Tom Kibble, 1982. aastal Drummond Matthews ja Frederick Vine ning 1988. aastal Archibald Howie ja MJ Whelan.
