This has waited way too long for a review, so while I'm admittedly way out of practice on reviews, I'll give this a shot. Wizardman 01:47, 27 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Image review: Article just has the one image which is fine, but I'm questioning the copyright status. The upload just says PD because it was made in 1929, but he's wearing a Monarchs uniform which is where he played in the 1930s. It is "probably" PD since the likelihood of the photo being formally copyrighted is low (so PD-nonotice or something to that extent likely applies), but the PD rationale would need to be beefed up a bit on the commons page, and since the user that uploaded it retired that'll have to fall on you. Worst case there'd be no issue with a fair use pic though I'd rather we try and confirm PD status. Wizardman 01:58, 27 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Another thing I noticed before I delve further is that the article does lean towards an overreliance on quotes. One once in a while is fine, but there's a couple section where the majority of prose is quotations, and it seems to take away from the article. Try rewriting at least a few of them in your own words. Source review to follow. Wizardman 21:56, 27 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Source review:

  • Any book sources need to have an ISBN added in.
  • The full Bak source should be moved to the first use rather than near the end. I'd say to split it out and put it below but since this is the only book used multiple times it doesn't seem necessary in this case.
  • For ref 2, are we sure there isn't a better way to present it than via google docs?
  • The Tennessee HoF ref says via newspapers.com which is incorrect
  • I'm not thrilled with using the podcast itself as the reference to the podcast; are we sure there isn't a third party source notating this?
  • Definitely need a page number for the Bill James source given that the book is 1000+ pages
  • The last ref should have an accessdate as well.

I'm actually going to stop here for now, please fix the above and I'll continue with the review. There's definitely more rough patches than I expected, and while I think we can get it to GA it's certainly going to take some work. Wizardman 13:54, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I pinged for a response, I'll give until 7/15 to at least start progress. Wizardman 23:03, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

With no response I'll unfortunately have to fail this. I would also suggest a copyedit after rewriting the overquoted portions if bringing this back to GAN. Wizardman 01:37, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
