July 12, 2007, Baghdad airstrike2007 Baghdad airstrikesWP:NCE. The specific date is not necessary. And it was multiple airstrikes. Longhornsg (talk) 03:08, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We could change the number to plural since there were three strikes. However, all strikes were on the same day, 12 July 2007. If we remove the day and only leave the year we are expanding the subject beyond what the text covers. Burrobert (talk) 10:23, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

:Support. There were no other strikes that year, so the year is enough. Lova Falk (talk) 11:46, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The statement about there being no other strikes in 2007 seemed so unlikely that I had to check it. I have not looked further than early January, but the article for the Battle of Haifa Street in Baghdad says "US helicopters fired Hellfire missiles at insurgent positions while fighter jets provided additional cover". Thank you Burrobert. You are quite right. I must have been sleeping. Lova Falk (talk) 14:44, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose for precision's sake. Lova Falk (talk) 14:45, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? It's not saying there were no other strikes in 2007. There are no other 2007 strikes with articles on Wikipedia. There were other strikes on July 12, 2007, as well. There was a war going on. These arguments do not make sense. Longhornsg (talk) 05:17, 10 December 2025 (UTC) @Burrobert@Lova Falk[reply]
Using the year and not the date would still suggest that these were the only strikes that year. But, if you wish to expand the article with the other strikes happening that same year, yes, then I would once again be in favour of the name change. Lova Falk (talk) 08:11, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Collateral Murder strikes are notable enough to deserve their own article and should not be merged with other strikes from 2007 such as the strikes related to the Battle of Haifa Street mentioned above. Why is "the specific date ... not necessary"? Burrobert (talk) 08:29, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose: The date in this descriptive title does not need to disambiguate from another event with a Wikipedia article. Rather, the standard in WP:NCE is whether "other descriptors are insufficient to establish the identity of the incident". (As with others, I agree with making the title plural.) ~ Jenson (SilverLocust 💬) 02:28, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
