Talk:Astur (bird)

Gundlach's hawk picture

I am 99% sure that photo is of a Red-tailed Hawk, not a Gundlach's hawk. Can anyone confirm? C9Rav9c (talk) 23:53, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@C9Rav9c, if there is some doubt I don't see a problem with swapping the image out. Are we talking about File:Accipiter gundlachii.jpg? I note that it is not used in Gundlach's hawk, is very low resolution and has a watermark. All of which are concerning. The people over at c:COM:FPC have some experience with identifying birds and may be able to help on the talk page. Commander Keane (talk) 03:18, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's the one, and good to have another chime in to confirm. The second photo on the main Gundlach's page (File:Accipiter gundlachi (photo by Roberto Jovel).jpg) is much more suitable. C9Rav9c (talk) 19:32, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why it fell out of use, pre-2024 resurrection

Is there any information on why Astur fell out of use? Would be nice to bridge the paragraphs on its history and its reintroduction in 2024. Apinch (talk) 21:06, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
