Wikipedia talk:WikiProject World Heritage Sites

Welcome to the Wikipedia World Heritage Sites Project Talk Page
This is the Talk Page for the WikiProject World Heritage Sites.
It is the primary message board for the Project, where changes can be discussed.

Geoscheme

UNESCO has a different geoscheme to the united nations, so our articles on Lists of World Heritage Sites are original research. For example, Europe and North America are not considered separate according to UNESCO but we have separate articles for them. Should we merge these lists? I think yes because it is a violation of grouping together topics that have not be grouped together. I personally don't think that the combined articles would be too large, considering we have huge lists like Timeline of the far future. Many of the consensuses to split these articles happened more than a decade ago and were not that large, so I am coming here to ask if the appropriate decision was made. I have nominated List of World Heritage Sites in Spain for featured list removal. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured list criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks; editors may declare to "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. Expand scope?

I think it would be better if this became WikiProject UNESCO. The UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists exist and I think they are very similar to the current focus on World Heritage Sites. Various people who have contributed to featured or good content on WHS have also done to about ICH. I am not sure if it is possible to expand the scope of a WikiProject. Nonetheless, the current WikiProject is quite inactive, it has a couple of people working on content but most members are inactive. An expansion of scope may help combat this. Let me know if anyone would be interested. Sahib-e-Qiran 23:30, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
