Veľké Trakany (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈʋeʎkeː ˈtrakani]; Hungarian: Nagytárkány) is a village and municipality in the Trebišov District in the Košice Region of south-eastern Slovakia.

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1320.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 101 metres (331 ft)^[3] and covers an area of 10.50 km² (4.05 sq mi) (2024).^[4] It is next to the Hungarian border (at Tiszabezdéd).

It has a population of 1532 people (31 December 2024).^[6]

In year 2021 was 1495 people by ethnicity 1138 as Hungarian, 364 as Slovak, 69 as Not found out, 5 as Ukrainian, 4 as Romani, 2 as Czech, 2 as German, 1 as Rusyn and 1 as Other.
