Wikipedia Medical Student
Hello, I am editing this article as part of a medical school course. If anyone has suggestions or feedback, feel free to reach out. --LukeC98 (talk) 17:09, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Unreliable medical source?
I removed an Unreliable medical source tag (template) → diff. I explained: "This journal *is* a reliable medical source. It was published from 1981–1988, and was not only indexed in MEDLINE, but was also in Index Medicus. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog?term=%22Br%20Med%20J%20(Clin%20Res%20Ed)%22." Correction: The referenced article was published in 2019, so I got the journal wrong, although the reasoning remains the same. The NLM Catalog notes that British medical journal (Clinical research ed.) [NLM Title Abbreviation: Br Med J (Clin Res Ed)] was continued as BMJ (Clinical research ed.) [NLM Title Abbreviation: BMJ] from 1988–present. Index Medicus includes the current iteration of the journal. Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) [he/him] 22:35, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
B-Class?
My quick impression is that this article is not quite B-Class on the WP:MED/Assessment quality scale, but it's getting close! I've added it to my "To Do" list. If two or three other editors devote some time I bet we can achieve that higher quality rating. Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) [he/him] 00:08, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
Media / Lobby hoax
Why is this an actual article on Wikipedia? This phenomena exists purely in the talking points of the US mediasphere, in no way is this a real symptom of marijuana use. I personally know a hundred people who smoke weed and I met hundreds more, I never heard any accounts of this - I know this is just anecdotal and yada yada yada, but if you take the time to look into it, this is an astroturfed nothingburger perpetuated by American anti weed lobbyists with different goals behind their smear campaigns, such as the tobacco industry and pharma industries. Before you say "citation needed" I encourage you to find just ONE patient account of CHS / Scromiting, you wont find one, you will just find 100 US media pieces that all have the exact same phrasing. With the little actual scientific studies on this and the dubious nature of all of this, seemingly existing exclusively in media talking points I dont see how this article even exists. I am concerned about the one sided, irresponsible news stories plauging your country! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fHfgU8oMSo
PS. The fact that this article stresses that a hot shower is a symptom of heavy weed use is rediculous. I dont know a single stoner who bathes on a compulsory basis lmao. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2025-44051-48 (talk) 19:32, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
- This article exists on Wikipedia because it meets the notability guidelines outlines by Wikipedia WP:Notability. Anecdotally I will mention that in Canada where we have had a federal legalization of weed for awhile now, CHS is well accepted amongst doctors. News articles aren't used to source this article, medical research is. IntentionallyDense (Contribs) 04:45, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
