Name

The old name of Kalarrytes was Kolari. The word: Kolari (plural of kolar) comes from Bulgarian meaning a craftsman, someone who makes and repairs carts, wheels, carousels and other wooden products for harness, but it can also mean a toponym or a type of carpentry/cartwork as a profession. Originally a Bulgarian village, in beginning of the 18th century, it gradually began to be settled by Aromanian (Vlach) population, which eventually assimilated with the Bulgarians and became Hellenized adopting Greek identity. From then on the name of the village was known as Kalarrytes (or Kãlarli).

Climate

Kalarrytes has a temperate oceanic climate (Köppen climate classification: Cfb), bordering on a warm-summer mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification: Csb). Kalarites experiences cool, rainy winters and warm, drier summers.
