The previous contentious topic notifications here were about abortion and American politics if I see correctly, and إيان's correct warning is newer than the violation of a rule NathanBru may well have been unaware of. As it is a topic-wide restriction, not a page restriction, it applies even if the article doesn't have an editnotice displaying the restriction (see Wikipedia:Contentious topics § Awareness of contentious topics and Wikipedia:Contentious topics § Enforcement of restrictions).

I am additionally cautious in asking users to self-revert if this means adding content to an article, as that comes with legal responsibility I wouldn't force someone to take for content they disagree with.
