The Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Central Greece (Greek: Τεχνολογικό Εκπαιδευτικό Ίδρυμα Στερεάς Ελλάδας) was an university founded in 2013, with a main campus in the City of Lamia, Phthiotis, Central Greece, and four branch campuses. The variations of name are the TEISTE; TEICG (by its initialisms); Central Greece University of Applied Sciences (CGUAS); Central Greece Institute of Technology; TEI of Central Greece. A Government University (higher education or tertiary) with full self governance and state funded functions under the supervision of the Greek Ministry of Education (Government Gazette Laws 2916/11-6-2001, 3549/20-3-2007). The TEI of Central Greece dissolved in January 2019 and ceased to be a university in its own name status by an Act of Hellenic Parliament, Law 4589, Government Gazette 13 Α'/29.01.2019.[1] The educational departments absorbed by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Agricultural University of Athens, University of Thessaly at which absorbed City of Lamia Campus that became its branch campus ‒ University of Thessaly at the City of Lamia Campus.


It offered 4-year (full-time) undergraduate degree programmes with awarded qualification πτυχίο (latinised version: Ptychion), in line with the Bologna process legally equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, and one-and-a-half-year, 1 ½ years full time or 3 years part time postgraduate degree programmes with awarded qualification μεταπτυχιακό δίπλωμα ειδίκευσης, postgraduate specialisation diploma legally equivalent to a Master's degree. Statutory tuition fees apply for the postgraduate programmes (master's). The former undergraduate degree studies was 3 ½ years, three-and-a-half-year, confers a legally equivalent to a Bachelor's ordinary (ord) degree which is a pass degree without honors (hons). Additionally, it houses the Centre of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning (ΚΕ.ΔΙ.ΒΙ.Μ, Κέντρο Επιμόρφωσης και Δια Βίου Μάθησης) provides programmes of study in person and by distance e-learning, certified by the EOPPEP - National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance.


One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credit points (Greek: Πιστωτικές Μονάδες ΠΜ, Μονάδες Φόρτου Εργασίας). Since 2013, for UNESCO's ISCED International Standard Classification of Education, EQF European Qualifications Framework, and HQF Hellenic Qualifications Framework (Greece), the classification of qualification level for Bachelor‛s degree (ordinary 210 ECTS, honors 240 ECTS) is at Level 6 and for Master‛s degree (90 ECTS) is at Level 7. Prerequisite for admission to the Master‛s degree is a Bachelor‛s degree. The degree dissertation has 20 ECTS. Each course at the university is assigned a specific number of credits.


The academic year is divided in two semesters. According to Law 4009/2011, Government Gazette 195/Issue A/06-09-2011, a semester lasts at least 13 full weeks and its duration can be extended up to two weeks. The curricular practicum, known as internship semester, is an undergraduate course of study provides employment and education training for 960 hours (8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 24 weeks continiously) with 10 ECTS credits in a specialisation of choice, also referred to as specific field of study or specialized branch of choice, and concurrently a cooperative professional practice with a CDD paid employment contract between an intern (internship student; student qualifies as trainee) and an employer, under the tutelage of a supervised schooled professor. It is funded by the government agency Workforce Employment Organisation of Greece OAED (Greek: ΟΑΕΔ). The employer at the internship end receives wage reimbursement.


A Bachelor's graduate for specific engineering disciplines only, who meet the criteria and after successfully passing governmental examination, it will state-granted the "Licensed Engineer" title by the State of Greece Department of Regulatory Authority its Engineering Accreditation Council. A professional qualification indicated with the use of post-nominal letters LEng designation authorizes a regulation and licensure in engineering with a registered member id. The Technological Educational Institute's engineering (engineer's degree) graduate is an engineering technologist. The Licensed Engineer LEng should not be confused with academically qualified Graduated Engineer which is legally regulated and limited to the according engineering degree graduates from universities of TEIs and AEIs.
