Hey, I will be reviewing this. Expect comments by the end of the day/early tomorrow :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 05:52, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Review:

Hey, so I have done a review and I can say you have done a good start on this - well done! However, there are some big issues to do with factual accuracy and SIGCOV. Here are my comments:

Lead:

1.) Can you please link "archery" in the lead to Archery at the 1988 Summer Olympics?]

2.) "Bhutan did not win any medals at Barcelona, nor in any previous Olympics" - this seems a bit out of place - why Barcelona?

3.) " It was the nation's third consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1984" - I am quite confused - the background section says that this was their second appearance?

4.) Can you please add a link to Bhutan at the Olympics?

5.) "None of the Bhutanese archers advanced past the ranking round, both as teams and individuals. The Bhutanese women's team was the only team to not advance to the Round of 16 in their event. Two of the archers were competing in their second Olympics, for the rest, this was their first and only time competing." - I think this should be cut as most of it is not in the article.

Background:

1.) "They have never participated in a Winter Olympic Games." - Can you clarify that as of 2025 they have never participated in the Winter games?

2.) "Bhutan had never won an Olympic medal" - Can you clarify that this was up to that point?

Competitiors:

1.) "It was Pema Tshering's first time competing" - Who is Pema??

2.) "It was Jigme Tshering's first and only Olympics" - who is Jigme?

Other:

1.) This article could benefit from some free images

2.) This is the biggest thing - I do not think this article is long/detailed/in depth enough for GA standards and all of the sources are primary - to have the broad coverage aspect of a GA, there needs to be secondary coverage. This is the biggest issue - in addition to the factual errors - and needs to be fixed.

I would quick fail this but I want to give you/the article a chance to fix so I am happy to wait a few weeks for these issues to be improved. If you would rather me fail this so you can have more time and I can review your 2nd attempt at a later date, let me know and I will do so. Let me know if you have any questions at all or need assistance :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 01:18, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@DaniloDaysOfOurLives, just so you know. For your issue on primary sources, Olympedia and Sports Reference are secondary sources. For your length issues please see Bhutan at the 1996 Summer Olympics and Bhutan at the 2004 Summer Olympics, both of those are GAs and those weren't considered problems. Bhutan in the Olympics is linked in the infobox, it is pipe linked to Overview. Pema Tshering and Jigme Tshering were two of the archers. There are no free images of any of the athletes or where they competed. Everything else is  Done. History6042😊 (Contact me) 01:30, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@DaniloDaysOfOurLives, I also slightly expanded the article a bit. History6042😊 (Contact me) 01:38, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops, sorry for the double ping. History6042😊 (Contact me) 01:39, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. I hope I did not upset you with my comments, I was only trying to help. If you find anymore information that would be great - maybe look at Newspapers.com? I will do a source spotcheck in a bit. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 01:41, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You did not upset me, I am sorry if I came off as rude, I was just trying to let you know about the standard for these Olympic article. Thank you for taking the time to review this article. :) History6042😊 (Contact me) 01:44, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to ping @DaniloDaysOfOurLives, also I checked Newspapers.com and found only one thing which I added. History6042😊 (Contact me) 01:53, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's great. I was doing a spotcheck and found a few errors of facts not aligning with the lead and the written facts. Could you please make sure that everything is correct? I will do a spotcheck tomorrow evening and if all is fine I will pass the article :) If you find more sources that would really, really benefit the article. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 03:55, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@DaniloDaysOfOurLives, hi, I fixed the two issues I could find. History6042😊 (Contact me) 11:11, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I have spotchecked Sources #1, #2, #7, #8 and #10. I corrected one mistake based on the source. I also had to replace a source as the information for the flagbearer was not there. If you find more sources please do expand it if you can, it would really strengthen the article DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 01:49, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
