Well actually the image on their web site does not have a TM and has darker shading at the bottom. The trademar at http://www.avid.com/us/images/Trademark_Usage_Guidelines.pdf has no shading, and no TM. Also http://www.avid.com/us/legal/trademarks.aspx makes no mention of using a TM after the use of "Avid". Are you sure the flickr page is genuine? Comment: Please provide proof that the image is in the public domain. This page says, "The images on this website are licensed from Corbis and Getty Images. No images may be reproduced in any format other than for fair comment (for example, screen grabs for training)." I believe that the image can be uploaded regardless, but it will qualify as fair use. Hello Lawrence, the web page you link to does not say anything about the permission granted to use this picture. we need to see something like picture available under cc-by-sa creative commons license. This is the one that requires attribution and stops others from negating this requirement. The image is very small, and could not be verified to even be from the product. So it may be worth uploading a 300 pixel wide screen dump. However, if it is open source, what is the license, is it GPL? And what is the copyright on the underlying map data, is it free as well, in which case the screen shot can be free, and you could supply the full resolution. But I have asked Bengt Gustafsson (who has made the picture) and it's OK with him to use it as long as I use his name and don't claim that I have made the picture myself. Since the picture is on my hard drive I followed the suggestion on the page and uploaded it to Flickr. How to do next?
