Hey, I did take a look through the CAB report, but couldn't find the paragraph from ASN in it. It seems to me that ASN reworded the summary, and this was then added verbatim to Wikipedia, which I think would still make it a copyvio? FozzieHey (talk) 14:46, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Happy to do so, but if you asked me about something I added in an edit almost 20 years ago now I wouldn't be able to answer you! If you take a look at the ASN archive URL, the summary is identical to what was added to Wikipedia. If you take a look at the CAB report linked on that archive URL, you can get an idea of where it has been summarised by ASN, but it doesn't look to be an exact excerpt from the report itself. You are right, I can't say I recall much about it, but in general I consider the CAB much more reliable than ASN. Not sure if quoting the ASN text is copyvio, but I simply don't consider it reliable enough, unlike the CAB and NTSB which are generally hyper-reliable. It seems to me that what I did at the time is move the CAB paragraph to the Investigation section, since it doesn't belong in "Background". @FozzieHey I've had another look. Revdel require "blatant violations of the copyright policy", a cited quote doesn't come in that category. Thanks both for taking a look. I've obviously rewritten a large portion of the article following the relevant ranges, so it's solved from that perspective. As for the revdel, RD1 does point to WP:Copyright problems for less blatant cases and that page only mentions revdels in the context of RD1, so I think you're right, although I don't have a lot of experience with that criterion. Vichy France. Just an FYI, Academia Lab is a esWiki mirror that machine translates some articles into English. I'd repaired attribution for of the IP's additions, and while I can't see the one that got revdelled, I'm assuming it's a similar situation? Guideline and policy news

• A request for comment is open to discuss whether AI-generated images (meaning those wholly created by generative AI, not human-created images modified with AI tools) should be banned from use in articles.
• A series of 22 mini-RFCs that double-checked consensus on some aspects and improved certain parts of the administrator elections process has been closed (see the summary of the changes).
• A request for comment is open to gain consensus on whether future administrator elections should be held.

Technical news

• A new filter has been added to the Special:Nuke tool, which allows administrators to filter for pages in a range of page sizes (in bytes). This allows, for example, deleting pages only of a certain size or below. T378488
• Non-administrators can now check which pages are able to be deleted using the Special:Nuke tool. T376378
