Mutually Assured Respect is a proposed foreign policy doctrine of the United States defined by 2012 Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul in a video speech on 9/15/2011[1] Paul contrasts his proposal with that of the cold war doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction. It consists of four primary points:

  • Treating other nations exactly as we expect others to treat us.
  • Offering friendship with all who seek it.
  • Participating in trade with all who are willing.
  • Refusing to threaten, bribe or occupy any other nation

In addition, Mutually Assured Respect would promote the use of commodity currency to reduce the potential for currency manipulation and trade advantages.

Finally, "Mutually Assured Respect offers a policy of respect, trade and friendship and rejects threats, sanctions and occupations."
