Tchonka is a mining town in the Shabunda territory of South Kivu, 330 km away from Bukavu.[1][2][3] It has a population of 9,313 people.[2]test
Mining
The town has many mines around it.[3] The mines contain cassiterite, coltan, gold, and other valuable minerals and extract it using basic tools.[3] The minerals are then exported to Bukavu via plane.[3] However, some mines are controlled by rebels.[3]
Infrastructure
The town has no TV coverage.[3]
