Ravi Howard is an American novelist.[1] His first novel Like Trees, Walking was published in 2007 and inspired by the lynching of Michael Donald.[2] His second novel, Driving the King, was published in 2014 and is about the friendship between Nat King Cole and his friend Nat Weary.[3] For his work in the former novel, Howard won the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence.[4]

He has also won a Sports Emmy Award for writing for the show Inside the NFL.[5] As of 2020, Howard works as a professor in the English Department at Florida State University.[5]
