Giuseppe Bovalina (born 11 November 2004) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a right back for Major League Soccer club Vancouver Whitecaps FC.[1]
Club career
Adelaide United
After three years in the youth side, Bovalina was signed on a scholarship contract on 6 September 2023.[1]
Bovalina made his professional debut for Adelaide United on 14 August 2023, during an Australia Cup match against Northcote City, a match that United would win 2–0. He made his A-League debut on 29 October 2023, coming on at the 59th minute in Adelaide's 6–0 win over Melbourne City. On 4 December 2023, during a match against Macarthur FC, Bovalina scored his first professional goal for United.[2]
Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Giuseppe Bovalina joined the Vancouver Whitecaps April 23rd, 2024. Bovalina joined on a 2 year deal through 2026, with club options for 2027 and 2028.
Bovalina made his professional debut for the Vancouver Whitecaps on May 7th, 2024, substituting on in the 88th minute for Javain Brown against Cavalry FC in the Canadian Championship, which the Caps would win 1-2 away from home. Bovalina made his MLS Next Pro debut on May 12th, 2024, starting for the Vancouver Whitecaps in a 3-4 win over LAFC. Bovalina was substituted off in the 58th minute for Eliot Goldthorp. Bovalina made his MLS debut on May 25th 2024, against Inter Miami CF. Bovalina was subbed into the match in the 58th minute for Mathías Laborda, which would later end up as a 1-2 loss for the Vancouver Whitecaps at home. Bovalina would make his Leagues Cup debut for the Vancouver Whitecaps against Club Tijuana, substituting onto the pitch for Fafa Picault in the 89th minute. The game would end a 3-1 win for the Vancouver Whitecaps at home.
Bovalina would score his first goal for the Vancouver Whitecaps, unleashing a powerful, left-footed, outside the box, strike into the top corner in a friendly against Wrexham FC on the 27th of July, 2024.
