Chuen Yen Chow (December 5, 1932 – August 20, 2022) was a Taiwanese-American aeronautical engineer. He was a aerospace engineering professor and researcher known for his contributions to aeronautical studies.

Early life and education

After emigrating with his family to Taiwan in 1949, Chow graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in mechanical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1954. Chow pursued advanced degrees in the United States, obtaining Master of Science (M.S.) degrees from Purdue University (1958) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1961), followed by a Ph.D. in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1964.

Career

His academic career began at the University of Notre Dame, and in 1968, he joined the University of Colorado Boulder as a professor, where he remained until his retirement in 2000. During his career, Chow authored and co-authored several textbooks and held a Distinguished Professorship at the United States Air Force Academy (1979–1980).

Chow’s work in aerospace engineering focused on flight dynamics and performance, and his contributions to the field are recognized through his teaching and research.[1][2]
