Please add MUSIC-related discussions to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Music, not here.
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Artists (in the visual arts only). It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Artists|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Artists (in the visual arts only). For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Zero reliable sources with any depth of coverage; just vanity press sites and other PR stuff. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:32, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

- Delete. The article lacks reliable, in-depth sources and appears to be based on vanity press and promotional material, failing WP:GNG and WP:MUSICBIO. --Old-AgedKid (talk) 10:35, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. You can't have significant coverage without reliable sources. The subject is only 17 years old, so this is just too soon. Bearian (talk) 13:08, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
- Delete per nom as not notable. Please note the previous AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/William Dunst. Kovcszaln6 (talk) 16:03, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

This artist doesn't seem notable outside of, maybe, passing mentions in articles about other topics. CampingWithCigarettes (talk) 04:06, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

- Delete – From what I understand, the artist gained notoriety as a result of a controversy involving the (DEI) policies of the current Trump administration. It is not enough for WP:GNG, and the episode is not even included in the First 100 days of the second Donald Trump presidency# Diversity, equity, and inclusion. If something more substantial comes up in the discussion, I'll change my vote. Svartner (talk) 06:05, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- Delete, no evidence of significant coverage. Eddie891 Talk Work 10:35, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- Delete, does not seem notable and their involvement in a single event doesn't seem to change that. Boredintheevening (talk) 11:20, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- Keep The article has existed without criticism since 2019. This sudden proposal to delete the entry feels like a pro-Trumpian effort to censor the internet of anything critical of Trump's Presidency, much as the Whitehouse is censoring information from government agencies and databases. MrEarlGray (talk) 16:56, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- I really doubt that Wikipedia, of all places, is particularly active in censoring criticism of Trump... Eddie891 Talk Work 17:18, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- True, but given anyone of any political affiliation can nominate any article for deletion my point still stands. MrEarlGray (talk) 17:24, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

Subject isn’t notable in Nepal. Given sources doesn’t meet criteria. Written as a promotional piece. Article is Full of information unsupported by given sources. Rahmatula786 (talk) 01:25, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- Keep The article appears to disclose sufficient information to suggest that the subject might be notable. I would tag the article for improvement rather than delete and revisit in the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashlar (talk • contribs)

- Keep - I haven't yet done a thorough BEFORE search, however so far I have found this permanent collection at the Fukuoka Museum: [1], this review in the Kathmandu Post: [2], this in Republic [3], this in the Nepali Times: [4], this from the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Buddhist Art in NYC [5], and [6], this about her work at the Kathmandu Triennial [7], this feature article on her: [8], this in the Kathmandu Times: [9] also found this: [10], and this [11] in Avery Review, and in Asia Pacific Art Papers I found this:[12]. She is definitely known in the art world, however most of her presence is in Southeast Asia, and coverage in English may not be abundant but there seems to be sufficient significant coverage found so far to meet WP:GNG quite clearly and probably also WP:NARTIST. Notability concerns for six years. No edits for four years. I was unable to find any hits on Google News. Only five references so far and most are not directly about him. Already deleted once.Royal Autumn Crest (talk) 02:34, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

- Delete Does not meet NARTIST. Both before and after his death there have been exhibits of his work, but I cannot find any outside of the area he lived in in Sicily. I also have not found anything indicating that his work is held in major (or even minor) museums. Lamona (talk) 04:40, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- Weak Keep As the article shows, his work is held in at least one museum, Museum Bagheria [13]. It may also be held in the other museum listed, Museo d'Arte Meditarraneo - it was certainly in an exhibition there, but the website doesn't seem to have a list of their permanent collection. A hard copy of the journal Arte Moderna might provide more information. RebeccaGreen (talk) 13:30, 9 March 2025 (UTC)

- Comment Note that he is not listed in the list of artists in the permanent collection of the Museum Bagheria. So his work appears to have been exhibited but is not held in the Museum. I haven't found him mentioned on the Museo d'Arte Mediterraneo site. Lamona (talk) 03:15, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

- Keep per WP:HEY based on the work by RebeccaGreen. Good job so far! Bearian (talk) 09:38, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- Delete The subject fails WP:ARTIST. She has not been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, or won significant critical attention, or been represented within the permanent collections of any notable galleries or museums. The sources are not the reliable sourcing needed. Much of the coverage is local and within that, many sources are announcements of exhibitions, including student exhibitions. Several sources are "pay to play", membership required for listing, etc. Quantity does not equal quality. WP:TOOSOON. --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 01:33, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

- Belasco is one of the few openly black, gay erotic artists. Erotic artists are often neglected, compared to non-erotic artists. I think those characteristics are enough to deserve an entry in Wikipedia.
- That being said, Belasco has also been published in Meatmen (comics), a very important gay anthology of its time. Another reason to keep this article.
- If that helps, Belasco has a current and updated Patreon page at [15]https://www.patreon.com/BelascoArts Frpe01 (talk) 17:12, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- I hope I'm allowed to post again on the same subject.
- A few more sources about Belasco's work:
- The site for The Advocate (magazine) has a page, https://www.advocate.com/art/2021/8/25/miguel-angel-reyes-sketches-sexiest-men-world#rebelltitem1, for a 2021 online gallery including examples of Belasco's work.
- The Advocate (magazine) also presented a 2013 show that includes Belasco's work at https://www.advocate.com/arts-entertainment/art/2013/07/11/galleries-sexyblack
- The page on the aforementioned gallery's official site is at https://antebellumgallery.blogspot.com/2013/07/sexyblack-opens-july-12th-antebellum.html Frpe01 (talk) 20:40, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Keep. While mainstream coverage in online sources is not plentiful (a WP blind spot), the subject's notability in the context of gay black erotica is substantial. Jason A. Quest (talk) 18:06, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

If any of the previous commenters have offline reviews of his work, or articles about him, it would be useful to add them as references. RebeccaGreen (talk) 14:39, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
