Vice presidency (2025–present)

Vance being sworn in as vice president by Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh on January 20, 2025

On January 20, 2025, Vance was sworn in as the 50th vice president of the United States.[1] Before his inauguration, Vance held a meeting with China's vice president Han Zheng in which they discussed China–United States relations.[2] Among his first acts as vice president was swearing in Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the first of Trump's cabinet nominees to be approved by Congress, on January 21.[3]

Remove reference to grandparent monikers.

Section 'Early life, military service, and education' mentions maternal grandparent monikers, which is irrelevant as these don't even get picked up in the rest of the article. Requesting removal. 2001:9E8:AA9:7500:40E2:E3E2:A3D8:B393 (talk) 11:29, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The provided NPR source covered his grandmother. The relevence of her name usage is not dependent on the rest of the article. —ADavidB 18:12, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We should change the current infobox portrait to the high quality version

There is a higher quality version of Vance's portrait that should be used here: File:VancePortrait4K.jpg PublicDomainFan08 (talk) 20:23, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Career

Is it so difficult to have a chronological CV, to list what he did when?? 2001:16B8:C84E:7900:5C36:8132:CE59:50C7 (talk) 11:06, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Stance on Ukraine

Multiple times in his career, JD has made it known how little he is interested in defending foreign democracies, and how he doesn't much care about Ukraine in particular. Given the recent fiasco at the Oval Office, instigated by divisive rhetoric from Vance, which has undoubtedly done severe damage to US-Ukraine relations, I believe it should be noted in some capacity here 165.23.216.149 (talk) 05:49, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Given the recent fiasco at the Oval Office, instigated by divisive rhetoric from Vance, which has undoubtedly done severe damage to US-Ukraine relations"
It should truthfully have read "The relations between US and the rest of the world".
United (?) States of America used to at least pretend to be a good force to the rest of the world, but now we all see it for what it is, all thanks to Vance and Trump and their likes. Comedy or tragedy? Or just stupidity? 81.237.203.103 (talk) 08:51, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

JD Vance´s inspiration from Carl Schmitt

It should be mentioned that the ideas (and perhaps: ideology) put forward by JD Vance is heavily influenced by the German lawyer and philosopher Carl Schmitt https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Schmitt (background, provided by "libtards" yet still background: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/13/books/review/carl-schmitt-jd-vance.html) Truthorgulag (talk) 18:23, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Could someone be a dear and fix the grammatical errors in this section? I'd do it myself but I'm not extended confirmed. Thanks! Ryanisbetter (talk) 00:32, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Internet meme culture?

JD Vance is the center of a meme that has been circulating online as of recently in which individuals post unflattering, edited pictures of him. These memes are incredibly popular on both sides of the political spectrum but this page fails to mention that. News outlets from Forbes, to The Guardian, to the Washington Post have been writing about this. MountainJew6150 (talk) 21:27, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nate Vance, first cousin of the American Vice President J. D. Vance, shared his experience with Le Figaro

Nate Vance, first cousin of the American Vice President J. D. Vance, shared his experience with Le Figaro.
Initially motivated by curiosity, he joined the Ukrainian ranks to defend Kyiv by integrating into the Da Vinci Wolves Battalion of the 59th Assault Brigade of Ukraine, with which he spent nearly three years on the field, including two and a half years on the front lines (Kupiansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Pokrovsk). However, he had to return to the United States in January 2025 due to his familial connection with the American Vice President. Nate strongly criticized the meeting between Zelensky and Trump, which he described as a diplomatic fiasco, and expressed his disappointment with his cousin J. D. Vance for his skepticism toward Ukraine, based on reports rather than lived experiences. He regretted that J. D. Vance never sought to understand the reality of the conflict, despite his own firsthand accounts. He concluded that the United States, in attempting to appease Vladimir Putin, plays the role of a "useful idiot" in relation to Russia[1] · [2] · [3] · [4] · [5].
