Lilli Ann was a clothing company that was started in San Francisco, California in 1934[1] by Adolph Schuman, and named for his wife Lillian Brown.[2] Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, the company was known for its good workmanship and high-quality fabrics.[3][4][5]

The former Lilli Ann building was at 2701 16th Street in the Mission District.[6]

In 1986, local Chicano artist Jesus "Chuy" Campusano painted a large mural on the side of the Lilli Ann building. The mural was painted over in July 1998, which spurred community protests, and a lawsuit.[7][8]
