Rachel het passievol begin om die gemeenskap op te voed oor omgewingsbewaring en die implikasie daarvan op lewensbestaan en nageslag. Sy is 'n begeesterde boomplanter en het die afgelope 10 jaar meer as 1 miljoen bome op haar plaas geplant en 'n 5 hektaar vleiland herwin. Die Moringa-boomplant-lootsprojek wat sy in 2017 begin het, was veral welkom, aangesien dit vinniggroeiend is, terwyl die boomblare en -peule baie voedsaam is. Bewaring met kos - hoe geniaal! Hiervoor het sy en haar dogter Carole 'n selfhelpgroep gevorm wat uit verarmde landelike vroue en persone met albinisme bestaan, en aan wie sy gratis saailinge verskaf het. Die oogmerk is om wanvoeding in hul tuistes te verminder en surplusprodukte saam te verkoop.

She is a tree planting fanatic and has planted over 1,000,000 trees on her farm in the last 10 years and reclaimed a 5 acres wetland. The Moringa tree planting pilot she carried out in 2017 was particularly welcome, as it is fast growing and the trees leaves and pods are highly nutritious when consumed. Conservation with a food - how genius! For this, she and her daughter Carole formed a Self Help Group comprising of rural slum women and persons living with albinism that she gave free seedlings. The plan is to reduce malnutrition in the homesteads and sell surplus produce together.
