.adult (dotADULT) is an approved top-level domain (TLD) for the Internet.^[1] The ICM Registry who operates the registry for the sponsored top-level domain (sTLD) .XXX which is intended for the adult entertainment industry has announced a further 3 applications to ICANN for 3 new adult-themed TLDs, .ADULT, .SEX and .PORN.

ICM Registry is offering a "grandfathering" clause should they be awarded the new TLDs which mean they will automatically reserve matching domains for no additional fee for registrants who already hold the .XXX equivalent and registrants will be able to choose to either do nothing, and the matching domains will be permanently reserved under the new TLDS or they will have the option to pay a "nominal" fee to register the domains as normal.
