Internet meme introduced in 2024

Would the Internet memes introduced in 2024 category apply to A Minecraft Movie? The Marketing section explicitly states that multiple scenes included in the teaser, which was uploaded in 2024, were "notably ridiculed and became Internet memes". SleepDeprivedGinger (talk) 22:51, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Are similar films like Madame Web, Emoji Movie, and Sonic the Hedgehog (Ugly Sonic only) also in the internet meme categories for their respective years? Edelgardvonhresvelg (talk) 18:31, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per recent discussion regarding these cats, these have been diffused from any articles not specifically covering a particular meme itself. While there are several memes out there about content that people online joke about, not all of them are notable memes as a result. As such, these cats should not be in this article. Rachel House is confirmed to be the voice of Malgosha in the film, per this article from GameSpot.

"The leader of the Nether and specifically the Piglin is the character Malgosha, who is voiced by Rachel House (Moana, Hunt for the Wilderpeople)." https://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-minecraft-movie-trailer-reveals-its-villain-free-in-game-jetpack-coming-for-some-ticket-buyers/1100-6529760/ 71.86.182.63 (talk) 23:20, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Should we change the theatrical poster?

A bunch of new posters came out, one of which shows the whole main cast with their names billed on top. Would this be considered the theatrical poster? It's the one the IMDb page is currently using 205.186.52.207 (talk) 00:15, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The current theatrical release poster has since been adequately uploaded. Trailblazer101 (talk) 19:27, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We should change the poster (back) to the official one (with all members of the cast). MarvelMovieFan (talk) 18:54, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what poster you are referring to. The current one uploaded is derived from here, which has all the main stars. If you are seeing an older file with a bee, you may need to update your browser or purge our browser's cache, which you can find info about here. Are the following articles appropriate for the see also section?

Borderlands (film): Another live-action CGI 2020s film based on a 7th generation video game starring Jack Black

Minecraft: The Story of Mojang: A 2012 documentary about Minecraft

Minecraft: Story Mode: The first attempt at trying to a make a story in the Minecraft universe Edelgardvonhresvelg (talk) 21:44, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Another video game adaptation with a shared actor is just trivial. See also sections are supposed to include links not already in the article but relevant to readers. The Story of Mojang is already included in the top hatnote, while Story Mode is not a film and that is a very loose connection. So, no, I do not think any of these are necessary for such a section. Trailblazer101 (talk) 21:58, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe Borderlands can be linked if the movie is critically panned to the same degree as it and is negatively compared to it by news outlets. Edelgardvonhresvelg (talk) 19:08, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That still seems like a stretch to me and not what these sections should be used for. If reliable sources compare it to Borderlands upon release, then that would be a different story, but trying to preemptively insert a comparison is simply not how Wikipedia works. We do not have a crystal ball to ask and do not know how this film will be received overall. There is also WP:NORUSH to make such determinations. Trailblazer101 (talk) 19:22, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I also must say pushing a perspective by any means is not allowed in the article content. If Borderlands were to be included, what about all the other poorly received video game adaptations? It just feels too much like there would be a recentism bias in making such a comparison. Yes, it is possible this film is not received well, but we do not know that yet and do not have adequate sources to confidently compare these two films specifically. Another genre for "A Minecraft Movie"

One type of genre that hasn't been included in the Minecraft movie Wikipedia page but has been included in different websites is "Action". Should we add action as a genre for the movie? Because there's a lot of fights/battles in the trailers and short advertisements. Zyl3thbl0x (talk) 18:19, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:FILMGENRE, only the primary genre should be included. Do you have a source which lists this as primarily an "action film"? If so, I could see it being labeled a "fantasy action-adventure comedy film". Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:35, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I do but I don't know if it's going to be accepted. In an article in the Savannah Gilbo website "The 10 Things Every Action Story Needs", one of the sections "What Makes an Action Story" states that "Action stories are about life and death and good versus evil. They're about a character who has to rise up, overcome great obstacles, defeat forces of evil, and maybe even save the world." Source: (https://www.savannahgilbo.com/blog/action-conventions#:~:text=What%20Makes%20an%20Action%20Story%3F,maybe%20even%20save%20the%20world) Zyl3thbl0x (talk) 18:54, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, that is a blog, which is a self-published source and thus not reliable, and it does not even discuss this film in particular, so it would be original research to state that applies here. Trailblazer101 (talk) 19:00, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. Zyl3thbl0x (talk) 19:00, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism on the leaks of the movie

(2nd Question) After the release of "A Minecraft Movie", can we add some information on the leaks in the development section and how people criticized/reacted to it? For example: the tree on set that was during filming the movie, leaked concept art/character details of Steve, the pink sheep, creeper and the bee, and maybe the leaked version of what could've been the official/2nd trailer. Zyl3thbl0x (talk) 19:13, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No. Leaks are generally frowned upon being included as they are not reflective of the final product. Besides, most reliable sources only generally covered random online commenters' responses to it, which are not notable for an encyclopedia as anyone can say anything online. Anything post-release should be critic reviews and critical commentary of the film as released. Trailblazer101 (talk) 19:21, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Additional Literary Material credits

(3rd Question) Since "A Minecraft Movie" has a page in the Writers Guild of America website, can we add credits to the people who have been credited for Additional Literary Material in their pages? Zyl3thbl0x (talk) 19:18, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

While these credits are occasionally included, given this film's long history and the sheer number of additional off-screen credits attributed, I do not think these necessitate a mention in this article because I doubt every one of these writers' work is significant in the final product. These additional literary material credits are typically just to acknowledge prior writers for their contributions, not indicative of the impact their work had or the extent of it in the final credits, which are covered by the screenplay and story credits.
