Some pages do not work on the Wikipedia app

Hello, hope you are well. I am new to Wikepedia and noticed that the page for [1]does not work on the Apple version of the Wikipedia app,,, this could possibly be because it is from Wikitionary and I am a total noob :> But I discovered the page as it was linked to an article on Japanese Jazz, and there was no context or definition of the word on the page??

Sorry If I am making a noobie mistake and am wasting your time.

Many thanks,

jevbst Operationtjm (talk) 23:55, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, @Operationtjm! Are you using the wikipedia app? On mine, it directs me to the Fan (person) article not to something on Jazz. Is that not what you are seeing? You included an url in your question. When I open the url on my phone, it goes to the right place also. Please let me know any other information you have. Question from Panpanpanic (11:22, 7 January 2026)

Hi! I recently made a page for the only city in the kurdistan region of iraq that doesnt already have a page which is the city of 'Penjwen' and it was deleted for being a contentious topics. Is there any way you could help me try to publish the page? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Kurdistan_Region --Panpanpanic (talk) 11:23, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Panpanpanic Did they give any details in support of "contentionus"? Lfstevens (talk) 14:55, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Lfstevens I'm the one who gave them the CT/GS notice.
Per WP:GS/KURD
A community discussion at the administrators' noticeboard has placed all pages with content related to Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly interpreted, under the extended confirmed restriction, effective 03:50, 3 January 2023 (UTC).
Extended confirmed restriction: only extended-confirmed editors may make edits related to the topic area, subject to the following provisions:
The restriction applies to all edits and pages related to the topic area, broadly construed, with the following exceptions:
Non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace to post constructive comments and make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided they are not disruptive. Should disruption occur on "Talk:" pages, administrators may take enforcement actions described in "B" or "C" below. However, non-extended-confirmed editors may not make edits to internal project discussions related to the topic area, even within the "Talk:" namespace. Internal project discussions include, but are not limited to, AfDs, WikiProjects, RfCs, RMs, and noticeboard discussions.
Non-extended-confirmed editors may not create new articles, but administrators may exercise discretion when deciding how to enforce this remedy on article creations. Deletion of new articles created by non-extended-confirmed editors is permitted but not required. Kajmer05 (talk) 22:41, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
To be an extended confirmed editor requires:
- The account must be at least 30 days old.
- The user must have made at least 500 edits.
I recommend you spend time editing less controversial subjects until you cross these milestones. Good editing! Lfstevens (talk) 17:19, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Hydraulic splitter. When removing a maintenance template, please either ensure that the problem that the template refers to has been resolved, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as this change has been reverted. Take a look at getting started to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Thank you. - Adolphus79 (talk) 18:26, 14 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Adolphus79. I gave a valid reason in the edit summary. This stub article is unreferenced and is completely unworthy of the time of a copyeditor. Once it is properly referenced, a copyeditor might find it worth the effort. As it is currently unsourced, it should be deleted as per Wikipedia policy of deleting unsourced content. Have a great day! Lfstevens (talk) 00:44, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, you didn't give any edit summary at all. And unsourced or not, it still reads like it was sourced from press releases and needs copyediting. - Adolphus79 (talk) 03:44, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I left a summary the first time I removed them. It's not worth copyediting until it is properly sourced. Anybody who wants a copyedit should at least put the time in to source its claims. Otherwise, it should just be deleted. Lfstevens (talk) 14:58, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's not true either, this was your first edit on the article. Why are you lying about publicly documented actions? - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:25, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. I was thinking of another article. I was a little too fast with the mouse on that one. It should have "Remove tags pending delete for no references". Lfstevens (talk) 17:31, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
So, are you taking it to AfD, or what? What does "pending deletion" mean? And why can't it be tagged for advert and copy edit in the meantime? I have several times worked to clean up and (try to) save articles I see at AfD. I don't understand removing maintenance templates for no real reason... "pending deletion" means nothing if that's the only action you take on a page. Why not let someone come along and clean it up and add refs and save it from either the black hole it appears to have been in before I tagged it, or unnecessary deletion and probable later recreation. - Adolphus79 (talk) 18:05, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The basic point is that unreferenced stubs that are in such a primitive form are not worth the time of copyeditors who face a long queue of articles that are worth the effort. I'm not a deletionist, but if I followed WP policy, I'd remove the entire contents of the article. I don't do that, because I hope that people who thought enough of the subject to start the article (or somebody else) will take ownership and finish what they started. If they don't, the article will meet its end, which is the likely outcome.
I'm trying to motivate someone (you?) to fix the omission. I'm not erecting barriers to doing that. I have copyedited 10s of thousands of articles, and I hope that this article reaches the state of joining that list. Lfstevens (talk) 17:10, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

() Lfstevens, {{GOCEreviewed}} is useful for tagging an article talk page after removing {{copy edit}} for any reason. All the best, Miniapolis 21:42, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from JeffJohnson123 (17:06, 15 January 2026)

I am trying to correct the page called "Mr. Irrelevant (film)". The information is incorrect, but all the information relates to a film that the production company, Skydance, has publicly referred to as "Untitled". I tried to change the page to the correct information for the Mr. Irreleavant movie, but another user keeps reverting the page back to the incorrect version. He is suggesting that we should propose a change in the title of the page. I tried to do that, but do not see an option to "move" the page. --JeffJohnson123 (talk) 17:06, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, @JeffJohnson123! The Move option is under Page at the top of the page. Good luck. Lfstevens (talk) 17:28, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, I do not see a "Page" option at the top of the page. Can you help me? JeffJohnson123 (talk) 18:07, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @JeffJohnson123, at the top-right of each page, where the "Read", "Edit", "View History" tabs are... should be a drop down next to them with "move". I don't think you have the permissions yet for it though, per WP:MOVE you need to be autoconfirmed, which happens after your account is 4 days old. - Adolphus79 (talk) 18:14, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Cliavn the anagram user2 (18:14, 18 January 2026)

Hello, what user boxes would you recommend adding to my user page? I already have my language. --Cliavn the anagram user2 (talk) 18:14, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, @Cliavn the anagram user2! I can only tell you what I did, which was to note which projects were interested in articles that I was interested in. Then I joined those projects and added their boxes to my page. Good editing! Lfstevens (talk) 18:43, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice, if I find any interesting projects I will add their box things to my userpage. Have a good rest of your weekend. Cliavn the anagram user2 (talk) 19:32, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from OdieTheBee (22:06, 23 January 2026)

I have a question about an article, specifically the "Kievan Rus'" one, as it states that it was founded ~880 AD, but I was looking at wars involving the Kievan Rus' in a different article, and it said that the first battle they fought in as a whole was ~830 AD. Just confused about the whole thing, so should i change the actual article to "founded around 830 AD," or just leave it the same? --OdieTheBee (talk) 22:06, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for spotting the discrepancy. The basic approach is to check the source for each claim. If one is clearly better than the other, then use that one. If not, take it to the respective talk pages and see if you can find a consensus. Lfstevens (talk) 03:16, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Dairyeditor45 (14:12, 1 February 2026)

How can I edit an infobox, and add parameters? --Dairyeditor45 (talk) 14:12, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, @Dairyeditor45!
Are you on a phone or a computer?
On a phone, click the edit widget. Navigate to the infobox. Start a new line. Type the vertical bar character. Then put the name of the the parameter, followed by an equals sign and then the parameter value.
On a computer, click the Edit button. Navigate to the infobox. Click. An Edit button will appear. Click that button to raise the Edit dialog. The list of valid parameters appears on the left. Click the one you want. It will then appear on the right (you may have to scroll down). Enter the value in the field next to the parameter and click Save. Then save your changes.
Have fun! Lfstevens (talk) 22:11, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Captainbeetroots (00:13, 14 February 2026)

Hi. Nice to be assigned a mentor. This might be a little advanced for me at my stage of learning but I’ve been doing more topical pages lately and I’m having trouble understanding templates like “as of.” Is there a basic starting place to read up on how these work? --Captainbeetroots (talk) 00:13, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Each template has a page that describes it. E.g., WP:Asof. Check it out! Lfstevens (talk) 22:06, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
