Risks to Pets

None of this section has any citation supporting its claims. None of the statements in this section are verifiable. The claims potentially undermines pet owners confidence in vaccinations and other animal health pharmaceuticals. All prescription animal health care products are subjected to global pharmacovigilence to ensure the safety of the products. Caledane (talk) 10:02, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rename article back to Merial

Hello, I would like to make a suggestion to move the article back to Merial. After the integration of Merial into Boehringer Ingelheim, the article was renamed, but the content remained largely unchanged and still refers exclusively to the former company Merial. I find this very confusing, as it is not clear what the article is about.

I think it would make the most sense to rename this article back to Merial, making it clear that it’s about the former company. Boehringer Ingelheim's activities in the field of animal health are already covered in detail in the article Boehringer Ingelheim. I see no reason for a separate article on the Animal Health subsidiary, as public perception usually relates to Boehringer Ingelheim as a whole.

Other languages handle it as suggested (Merial as a former company): de:Merial, fr:Merial (entreprise)

Looking forward to discuss. Best, Harro at BI Group Comms (talk) 09:31, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: Please establish a consensus with editors engaged in the subject area before using the {{Edit COI}} template for this proposed change. I think this is probably best done by starting a requested move. GoldRomean (talk) 01:18, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The page has now been moved. It would be great if someone could please implement the proposed changes or give me a thumbs-up to do it myself. Many Thanks. Harro at BI Group Comms (talk) 13:04, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead: I have reviewed these proposed changes and suggest that you go ahead and make the proposed changes to the page. Since the article is 100% about Merial right now, I don't oppose to this drastic change. As the article is pretty much about the former company with the title of the former company, you'd have to place future information in other articles to keep the article focused. Boehringer Ingelheim Animal HealthMerial – The article was moved to its current title following Merial’s 2017 integration into Boehringer Ingelheim, but it still primarily discusses the former company, Merial. As Boehringer Ingelheim's pre-existing animal health division is already well covered in Boehringer Ingelheim, this article's only purpose is to cover the former company. All incoming links likewise point to the former company; see Special:WhatLinksHere/Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. German and French Wikipedia treat Merial and Boehringer Ingelheim as separate topics as well, in line with the proposed move.
