Description
English: The Custom House, Belfast. It was designed by Charles Lanyon in the Italian Renaissance style and was completed in 1857. The angels in the river front spandrels were designed by Samuel Ferris Lynn and executed by Thomas Fitzpatrick. (See Paul Larmour, Belfast: An Illustrated Architectural Guide, entry 31, p. 18; C. E. Brett, Buildings of Belfast, revised edition, p. 35.) The Big Fish in the same square shows the other side of this building in the background.
