Summary

Description
English: Abdominal CT scan of a 77 year old man presenting with 6 hours of severe stomach pain. It shows two juxtaposed segments of narrowing, which is the spot where the mesentery is rotated. The intestine in the rotated segment has a thickened wall, and the content is slightly fecalized. Also, there is mesenteric edema as well as ascites. A diagnosis of small bowel volvulus was made, which was confirmed at surgery to be a part of the ileum.
