A very informal term of dubious WP:GNG. Sole ref is to a dictionary - sure, this term is used in such a context, but it doesn't mean it is notable. Most of the stubby article is pure WP:OR. My BEFORE fails to find anything that's reliable and SIGCOV meeting. While arguably there should be a parent concept to stuff like Man cave or historical Cabinet (room), we need to chose a term that's used by scholarly sources, and build an article based on them. - As it's currently written, this fails our notability guidelines on GNG and DICDEF grounds. I feel like it should be salvageable, but the name is so common I have not yet been able to find the correct search which would bring up any related sources. SportingFlyer T·C 05:36, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Keep, but "renovate". Better Homes and Gardens has articles about dens ("No, a Den Room Isn't the Same Thing as a Living Room or Family Room", "Return of the DEN" [subscription required]), CBC has articles about there being no legal definition of a den in British Columbia[1] and Ontario[2][3]. Mental Floss discusses the question that has stymied the most profound philosophers: Living Room vs. Family Room vs. Den: What’s the Difference? Clarityfiend (talk) 11:56, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Keep. I don't like rushing to AFD when the article subject would seem to be obviously notable; the same thing happened with Metropolis. I also wouldn't expect to find many scholarly sources on an informal term from home design. The sources from Clarityfiend above should be enough for a definition, and they can be enhanced with sources like [4] [5] [6] that illustrate the various ways that the room is used. - Keep: This is a topic that is hard to search because the words are generic, but the previous participants have identified several sources that show, in line with common sense, a WP:GNG pass for this topic. Moreover, WP:DINC. Dclemens1971 (talk) 02:41, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Keep per Clarityfiend and Astaire. The word "den" is indeed a pretty common term, but it's also a term that is legitimately used to describe a room in a house; the sources provided above show that the term at least passes GNG. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:15, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
