Nghĩa Thành (Vietnamese: Xã Nghĩa Thành) is a commune of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is one of the 168 new wards, communes and special zones of the city following the reorganization in 2025.[1][2]
Geography
Nghĩa Thành is located in the east of Ho Chi Minh City, about 80 kilometers southeast of Saigon ward, it has the following geographical location
- To the east it borders Xuân Sơn commune
- The West borders Long Hương ward and Châu Pha commune.
- The South borders Tam Long ward and Đất Đỏ commune
- The North borders the communes of Ngãi Giao commune and Bình Giã commune.
According to Official Dispatch No. 2896/BNV-CQDP dated May 27, 2025 of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nghia Thanh commune after the arrangement has an area of 65.67 km², population as of December 31, 2024 is 27,819 people, population density reaches 423 people/km² (statistical data as of December 31, 2024 according to regulations in Article 6 of Resolution No. 76/2025/UBTVQH15 dated April 14, 2025 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly[3]).
History
On June 16, 2025, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 (effective from June 16, 2025). Accordingly, the entire natural area and population size of Đá Bạc commune and Nghĩa Thành commune of Châu Đức district will be arranged into a new commune called Nghĩa Thành (Clause 153, Article 1).
