- Propose renaming Category:Ancient and medieval physicians of Egypt to Category:Medieval physicians of Egypt
- Nominator's rationale: The category now only contains medieval physicians as all ancient physicians have been moved to a new category "Ancient physicians of Egypt". Davshul (talk) 23:09, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Rename per nom. This follows a previous discussion over splitting "ancient and medieval" categories. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:33, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- Agree per result of previous discussion. Debresser (talk) 22:19, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- Rename to Category:Medieval Egyptian physicians. This seems to be the more normal form for the ancient and medieval categories. Personally I don't care which is used, but we need to get consensus on one form over the other. I'm going to hold off on nominating more from the medieval category until a clear consensus surfaces. I'll note that one parent is Category:Egyptian physicians. Vegaswikian (talk) 00:04, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: there have been two minor league baseball teams named 'Toronto Maple Leafs' (see Toronto Maple Leafs (baseball)) Mayumashu (talk) 21:47, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Support Rename While it is unlikely that the semi-pro team will have a category of its own, the category should be renamed to match the parent article for Toronto Maple Leafs (International League). Alansohn (talk) 04:08, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Delete. Small single entry category not likely to grow. No upmerge to anything since the article has ample categories. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:39, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Comment -- This is effectively a small Christian denomination (see main article). The question is whether any of the red links in the article will become articles to be included. I suspect not. If so, delete but do not salt. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:37, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Delete. Major misspelling, category has only two members, one is a scientifically hypothesized person, the other a disambig page. Articles draw the appropriate connections between these entities without any need for a category. Abductive (talk) 12:00, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Delete – the 2 articles are in the parent Category:Kohanim which is more appropriate (Category:People of Fooian descent is for individuals). Occuli (talk) 12:27, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Korean folk music to Category:South Korean folk music
- Propose renaming Category:Korean folk musicians to Category:South Korean folk musicians
- Propose renaming Category:Korean folk songs to Category:South Korean folk songs
- Nominator's rationale: Procedural nomination. These categories were emptied out of process and the articles formerly in them recategorized by User:Kookyunii. I suspect this is likely to be controversial and am bringing all of these categories here for discussion. R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:53, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Rename/merge 1 and 3, and root out any North Koreans putting them in an obvious NK category. I lack grounds for any view on 2 and 4; although there is Category:Korean music with North and South subcats. Occuli (talk) 12:31, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Rename We should have a South Korean folk singers and North Korean folk singers. Jeremjay24 (talk) 15:37, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Comment. In reviewing the deletions in this area, there appears to be a concerted effort to remove Korean categories and replace them with South Korean ones. Personally the South Korean ones should be added. No need to delete the Korean parents. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:09, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

renamingCategory:Peak bagging in the British Islesto Category:Peak bagging in the United Kingdom - Nominator's rationale: Delete I'm going to take the plunge and change this to a CfD. Delete as there are no articles or sub-categories here which actually relate to peak bagging, unlike the American category. This is basically Category:Mountains by country under the peak bagging "brand." Wikipedia is not a travel guide, and we don't want a situation where we allow a Peak bagging by country category scheme to become a parallel to Category:Mountains by country. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 16:54, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Rename per master category Category:Sport in the United Kingdom by sport. Peak bagging (which sounds a little rude) is a sport, or one of the newer Category:Outdoor locating games, or something, and this category was created without regard to the fact we don't categorize activities by landforms but rather by nationality. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 01:32, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
I see that the American cat is grouped not under sports under Category:Tourism in the United States. I guess it could go in either, or both. Regardless, the name needs to be tweaked to fit within the UK category tree. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 01:43, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Comment – interesting category. There is one subcat Category:Hewitts which includes Ireland, so a split is needed with Category:Peak bagging in the Republic of Ireland being created as well (Ireland is the whole island, although we have Category:Sport in Ireland by sport). (There is much wiki-controversy over the usage of 'British Isles' so an alternative is probably a good idea.) Occuli (talk) 12:41, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Reply I created Category:Peak bagging in Ireland to reflect all the other subcategories in Category:Sport in Ireland by sport, and moved Category:Hewitts of Ireland into this new category. My qualm is that Category:Hewitts of Ireland and other such general categories for mountains and hills are being categorized under an activity, and a pretty obscure one at that. Category:Rocky Mountains isn't categorized under Category:Skiing, for example, or Category:Pacific Ocean under Category:Surfing, we reserve that for articles on ski hills and surf spots where such activities are notably mentioned. But it now seems to me that the national categories for Peak bagging have been populated as a guide to where peak baggers can find peaks, rather than for defining characteristics of said peaks, and that's a no-no. In fact, should we be considering deleting these categories as WP:OC, rather than just renaming the UK cat? Please weigh in. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 15:40, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Very good point. The easiest would be to make Category:Peak bagging in the United Kingdom a parent of Category:Mountains and hills of the United Kingdom, as peak bagging is not specific about what sort of peak is required. The top articles seem to be OK as they are about or related to Peak bagging in Foo. Perhaps all the subcats of mountains should simply be removed. Or use {{cat see also}}. Occuli (talk) 17:09, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- While the US category does have a handful of bona fide peak bagging-related articles, this UK category (and the one I just created for Ireland) would be empty if one removed all general mountain and elevation-related categories and articles from it. South Wales Traverse and Bob Graham Round appeared to me to be mis-categorized. They should have been organized under Category:Fell running event, so I changed that. Obviously we don't want a situation where we allow a Peak bagging by country category scheme to become a parallel to Category:Mountains by country. Would I have your support if I changed this to a CfD on the basis of WP:OC#TRIVIAL? I'd speedy the Irish one myself but leave the US one, as there is true peak bagging content in it. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 18:43, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Keep -- The problem is that the category does not just relate to UK but also Ireland. An alternative might be "Britain and Ireland". I suspect that Irish categories are all-Ireland, which does not fit the usual system of national categories. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:43, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for any confusion my original CfR has caused. I am now nominating to delete. The problem is no longer the nationality issue, if it ever was. That's beside the point, IMO. The problem is that this would make a landform category like mountains a subcategory of an obscure activity, peak bagging, which is absurd. It's like making oceans a subcat of surfing. If Peak baggers want to use Wikipedia to find elevations and info, great. But they should be using our existing category structure to find them, except in instances like in the US category where we have bona fide articles on peak bagging events and people. We should not create a different way for peak baggers to search out mountains, per, Wikipedia is not a travel guide. Shawn in Montreal (talk)
