Request for help with Newspaper Notability and Assessment

So it has been years since anyone has really worked on Wikipedia:WikiProject Newspapers/Notability and Wikipedia:WikiProject Newspapers/Assessment. I feel like both are ready for Wikipedia:Requests for comment. I'd like to get them approved as official policies. Do you know how to do that? User:Peteforsyth told me you were pretty involved in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Newspapers and that maybe you could help. Eric Schucht (talk) 19:27, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Eric Schucht: Those projects have been neglected for years but yes, the intent was to do an RfC.
It happens that there recently was a convening on sources - meta:WikiCredCon 2025, and people were asking for some movement to connect Wikipedia and newspapers. By the end of March I am planning to submit an article for publication in WP:Signpost about that convening, and while there is interest, it could be a good time to advertise the RfC.
Proposing an RfC is easy - just a couple of sentences and a link to the proposed document - but it helps to rally 3-5 people to help coordinate and be present for the discussion. You and I make two of those. Perhaps some people who attended that conference could be more. To get ready for that, could you give a re-read to those old proposals? Clear out any working text, and get them into shape as proposals.
If it helps, we could talk by voice or video. Thanks for your interest. Bluerasberry (talk) 22:56, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to help edit the old proposals, but I'm not sure how they should look. I've never worked on a proposal before. I already went through Newspapers/Notability and added some Wiki links and swapped out some examples for more relevant ones. I'm down to chat over the phone sometime to go over what else can be done. These have been sitting for years and I just want to rally folks to get these proposals across the finish line. Eric Schucht (talk) 00:12, 14 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
