OceanVeil is a Japanese subscription based video on-demand over-the-top (OTT) streaming service owned by WWWave Corporation. This platform was developed to cater to a global audience, offering a diverse range of anime content, including both mature and non-mature titles.[1]
The name OceanVeil was chosen to evoke a sense of mystery and align with the oceanic theme central to WWWave Corporation's branding. Jason Roberson, from the company's Global Distribution section, explained that the service's name reflects the dual nature of their content offerings—regular anime accessible to all users and a discreet, hidden section for adult content. This design ensures user privacy and aligns with the company's broader ocean-themed branding, as the "three Ws" in WWWave Corporation symbolize water waves.[2]
History
On December 2, 2024, WWWave Corporation announced via Anime News Network its plans to launch a new anime streaming platform, initially codenamed "OceanVeil". The platform is set to feature a combination of adult and mature anime titles, alongside mainstream and popular non-mature anime.[1]
The OceanVeil staff stated that the platform will feature exclusive shows that are not available on other streaming services. The platform will include uncensored titles from WWWave Corporation and Suiseisha, along with other undisclosed titles across multiple genres. OceanVeil's content library is planned to cover a wide range of genres, from shōnen anime to adult-oriented works.[3]
The platform also features a "secret" hidden section, allowing viewers to access uncensored hentai and mature titles. OceanVeil was initially scheduled for launch in February 2025 but was later delayed to March 2025.[3]
On March 11, 2025, WWWave Corporation initially launched its anime streaming platform, OceanVeil, offering a diverse range of anime content to a global audience. On March 15, 2025, OceanVeil announced a strategic partnership with Ascendent Animation, an American dubbing and post-production studio specializing in anime dubs, including erotic anime. This collaboration is intended to expand OceanVeil's content library by offering English dubs for select titles, including mature-themed or feature LGBTQ+ theme works and series featuring diverse narratives.[3]
