James Maness (May 1, 1963 – September 21,2024) was an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL).
Maness was born and raised in Decatur, Texas and played scholastically at Decatur High School.[1] He played college football for the TCU Horned Frogs,[2] where, as a senior, he was honored by the Associated Press as a third-team All-American.[3]
Maness was selected by the Bears in the third round of the 1985 NFL draft,[4] and was a member of the Bears team that won Super Bowl XX.[5][6]
Maness died September 21, 2024 in Azle, Texas after a lengthy battle with early onset Alzheimer’s and dementia.
He is survived by his wife Tiffany Maness and eight children.
