Barney Harris (born 15 July 1996) is a British actor, writer and producer. He is known for playing Mat Cauthon in the Prime Video fantasy series The Wheel of Time. He will next appear in the Netflix film My Oxford Year based on the novel of the same name.
Early life and education
Harris was born and raised in London. He first discovered acting in a school production of Jerusalem in which he played Johnny "Rooster" Byron, a role originated by Mark Rylance.[1]
Career
Harris made his television debut in The Hollow Crown as Edward of Westminster, Prince of Wales opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Okonedo.
Harris went on to appear in Ang Lee's Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk as an American soldier suffering with PTSD. The film starred Joe Alwyn, Kristen Stewart and Vin Diesel.[2] Following Lee's film, Harris appeared in Billionaire Boys Club opposite Ansel Elgort and Taron Egerton. He was awarded a place on the UK Screen Stars of Tomorrow 2016 by Screen International.
In 2019, Harris won the role of Mat Cauthon in Prime Video's fantasy Series The Wheel of Time, based on the novels by Robert Jordan. He was replaced by Dónal Finn for the second season. [3] No official reason was given for the change.
His upcoming projects include The Severed Sun, [4] Desperate Journey directed by Annabel Jankel and My Oxford Year, directed by Iain Morris.
