Are/were lots of Slovenian villages called just "selo"?
I've been looking at Selo, Ajdovščina, Zgornja Slivnica and other Slovenian village articles and a number of them state that the village is/was known simply as "selo" (which I know just means "village" or "settlement"). I'm sceptical that this was/is actually the name of these villages, at least not a real, long-term name that people from that place would use to describe where they came from, because that wouldn't make sense. It sounds more like this was just a place-holder name at most. Or am I wrong, would people in these places really say (or have said) "hello, my name is Franc, and I come from Selo?". Can anyone shed more light on this? FOARP (talk) 14:28, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- People do really say "I'm from Selo". It's not a placeholder. --TadejM my talk 17:57, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
Discussion about WikiProject banner templates
For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:
- "This article has been rated as Low-importance on the importance scale."
There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. Creation of articles listed at Article requests
Hello! I have started writing and translating the missing articles listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Slovenia/Article requests. The estimated speed is 1 to 2 articles per week. I will appreciate any input and editing of the newly created content. I invite all of you reading this to join me in this endeavour. This project to turn all red links on that page to blue ones is supposed to take 2 to 3 years.
Created so far: Skiing in Slovenia · Žužemberk Castle · Roma in Slovenia · Julija Primic · Lado Ambrožič · Youth Forum of Social Democrats · Young Slovenia

Input on evaluation of sources
Hi! I posted a question at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Slovenske novice and Reporter about assessing reliability of sources for controversial material in a BLP (Nina Krajnik). It would be great to get more input from people familiar with Slovenian news media. Thank you! Dreamyshade (talk) 17:32, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

The article Aleš Hlad has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged for notability concerns for 14 years. Poorly sourced WP:BLP.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 02:41, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
