Further, you are edit-warring against a consensus that you yourself participated in previously on the talk page. You disappeared from the previous discussion without addressing any of the substantive points made. You do not simply get to stall out any changes you disagree with on that page. You are literally the only person who has objected to these changes -- the IP editor is disallowed from participating due to WP:ARBECR, we do not care what they think. Hello. I am currently editing the article "nociplastic pain" as part of a class. I just wanted some further clarity on why the examples of nociplastic pain were removed from the definition section? I know you said that better evidence is needed, but many of the article's references discuss the nociplastic pain components of the conditions that were given as examples, among them IBS and chronic headaches. I'm also confused on the condition "ME/CFS" you referenced in your comment-- I can see the similarities to nociplastic pain but it differs in its manifestations and pathophysiology. Thanks for your message @DepakoteDayDreamz. For starters, I agree that ME/CFS is distinct from nociplastic pain, and more importantly authoritative sources on ME/CFS do not characterize it as a central sensitization syndrome (the ME/CFS article just underwent featured status review, so you can find high-quality sources there), which is why I noticed and removed that sentence’s claim that “chronic fatigue syndrome” (an outdated name for ME/CFS) is such a disorder. Just the fact that those sources use that term is an indication it may not be an up-to-date source on all the other disorders it references. My suggestion would be to check with the authoritative reviews on the disorders in question and only add them back if those sources do validate that’s how they’re understood (and if yes, to be more precise about how exactly—for example, chronic headaches can certainly have organic causes, so even if leading headache literature agrees it can be sensitization, would need to make clear it’s not exclusively). Guideline and policy news

• Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
• Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.

Technical news

• Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.

Arbitration

• The arbitration case Indian military history has been closed.
  • South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. The topic area is specifically defined as All pages related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups.
  • The contentious topic designations for Sri Lanka (SL) and India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (IPA) are folded into this new contentious topic.
  • The community-authorized general sanctions regarding South Asian social groups (GS/CASTE) are rescinded and folded into this new contentious topic.
• The arbitration case Article titles and capitalisation 2 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 31 July.

Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 different occupations or professions (or broader roles in society) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

• November 25 – December 1 - Call for candidates
• December 4–8 - Discussion phase
• December 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

• The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
• Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for admin elections candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
• The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
• The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
• Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. Later, a user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Discussion phase.

On December 9, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which typically lasts between a couple days and a week. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate who has not been recalled must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. A candidate that has been recalled must have at least 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

• Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). January–February 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
New Pages Patrol is hosting a one-time, two-month experimental backlog drive aimed at reducing the backlog. This will be a combo drive: both articles and redirects will earn points. The drive will run from 1 January to 28 February 2026. The drive is divided into two phases. Participants may take part in either phase or across both phases, depending on availability. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled during the drive. Two-month drive-exclusive barnstars will be awarded to eligible participants. Each article review earns 1 point, while each redirect review earns 0.2 points. Streak awards will be granted based on consistently meeting weekly point thresholds. • Due to the result of a recent RFC, the administrator recall process is amended to extend the deadline for a re-request for adminship to 30 days or the next administrator election, whichever is later.
• Changes to the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy's disclosure rules include broadening the consecutive-blocks exception to cover all admin actions and removing the requirement to revision-delete permissible disclosures once they become unnecessary (instead requiring only their removal). Happy New Year from WikiProject Medicine. Last year was tumultuous, with large language models competing for readers’ attention. These models often sound authoritative despite frequent hallucinations. They are however effective at writing in clear, accessible language, something research shows we often fail to achieve in medical articles. One of the goals of the Vital Signs 2026 campaign is to ensure that our top-importance articles are understandable, as this is one of the six B-class criteria they should meet.

• 2025 saw one Arbitration case related to WikiProject Medicine, related to conduct around transgender healthcare and people. The case saw a number of editors banned or topic-banned.

• The Vital Signs campaign has kicked off. We've already removed misinformation from breast cancer, updated the management section of asthma, and assessed what needs to happen at autism. Can you help too?
  • Adopt an article, fix obvious mistakes, and assess if it now meets the B-class criteria in the progress table
  • Help out with any of the smaller tasks, such as ensuring that the new ICD-11 codes are included, or updated the disease frequency and mortality with the Global Burden of Disease study, published last October.
