User talk:Eric Carpenter

Hey Eric! It’s AWB. Thanks for editing my page. Nobody remembers but I was a founding writer and correspondent for the Daily Show’s first 3 years. I even hosted it a few times. Gone, like tears in the rain. Cheers, Whit

A tag has been placed on File:Howard Sackler.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.  REAL 💬 ⬆   23:58, 27 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! ~Darth StabroTalk • Contribs 20:24, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi Eric Carpenter. Thank you for your work on Eduard Peters. Another editor, Mariamnei, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thank you for your work on this article. Please add a source for "After his retirement in 1925, Peters studied geology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, with minor subjects in botany, zoology and prehistory. He began excavations in Hegau in 1926, which continued until 1932." Thanks and have a great day!

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Mariamnei}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Mariamnei (talk) 07:59, 3 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Mariamnei: Thanks for your comment, I searched online and could not find references for the section you mentioned in the Eduard Peters article so I removed it. I'll leave it up to other Wikipedia editors to fill out the article, thanks again. Eric Carpenter (talk) 17:31, 3 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to Duell, Sloan and Pearce

Please note that the source previously listed at the bottom of the article was for all of the content of the article as it stood when created. By moving that citation to the end of the first sentence, you have made it appear that almost all of the rest of the article is unsourced, when most of it is supported by that source. I know the article is not up to current standards, but I think your edit makes it appear that it is less supported by a reliable source than it actually is. - Donald Albury 01:14, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Donald Albury:
I re-edited to article to add references to the rest of the text using the reference that was previously at the bottom of the page. Also added a link to an Internet Archive copy of the referenced book, thanks. Eric Carpenter (talk) 16:46, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I know the article was not properly referenced when created. I can only plead that I was still new to Wikipedia at the time, and did not have a clear understanding of referencing. Another weakness is that I used only one source, and I have not had access to that source since 2008. If someone had nominated the article for deletion, I would have been hard put to defend it.
