I think there's a missing ref concerning the Horace Porter quoted material in this article now:

According to Grant's personal secretary, Horace Porter, Lincoln was "exceedingly popular" with the rest of the staff, "was always ready to perform his share of hard work" and "never expected to be treated differently from any other officer" because he was the President's son.</ref>

Fixed, thanks for pointing it out. Beyond My Ken (talk) 11:22, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to set Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary). Thanks! – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:05, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling?

Was this supposed to read "foolish", or did the historian spell it "foolosh"? NE2 03:35, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

No, my error. Thanks for the catch. Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:46, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
