To comment at WT:Teahouse, in case you haven't noticed the latest thread started today about AI. I can't link it directly as Hoary put [ ] characters in the title which messes up links! Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:09, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mike. I had noticed it, as well as something else: that AI is more and more becoming the Teahouse topic du jour. I do plan to follow up on it, but this time possibly elsewhere than directly in that conversation—though I still might do that too, after seeing what others may say first.
- But I hope you will add thoughts of your own. The more that respected senior editors get involved on this topic to help bring about balance in these discussions, the more likely it will happen.
- Speaking of Teahouse conversations, I wonder why the other discussion you got me involved in has just limped along. Some bot will probably get it shelved. Augnablik (talk) 15:35, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
Madagascar
Hi. At Talk:Madagascar, you seemed unaware that the article is already an FA and other editors want to correct issues so it's not demoted. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but trying to earn bling in a copyediting drive shouldn't prevent editing by others under these circumstances. All the best, Miniapolis 21:53, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- But Miniapolis, how can editing by both GOCE editors and others go on at the same time when a copy edit request entails the editor's expectation of not having others edit while the GOCE in use notification is posted on the article?
- As you would know, if two editors work on the same article at the same time, they aren't notified about it; and so when they go to publish their edits, the editor who does so after the other one is prevented until he or she resolves the conflicts, or else undoes the earlier editor's edits. Which can involve a lot of time.
- I never thought a GOCE copy edit would be requested on an article—even one in an FAR—other than with the usual expectation of protected time until removal of the copy edit notification. Even if other editors on the FAR might have been looking at the article during the copy edit, I didn't expect they'd actually make any changes to it till the copy edit was finished.
- If that was incorrect understanding on my part, sorry. But if it really is legitimate for both types of editing to be done at the same time, I hope this will be called to GOCE editors' attention, as doing requested copy edits in such circumstances is trickier than working on run-of-the-mill copy edit requests. Fortunately, it's probably rare.

- I agree with all of Jonesey's advice there, and my first reaction to your "decoration" of {{GOCEinuse}} (which several experienced editors have said you shouldn't be using on an FAR page; I don't use it at all) was "WTF?" I'm seeing an element of article ownership in how you're addressing legitimate concerns by doubling down on your idea of how things should be done. FWIW, I edit one section at a time; one sentence at a time may not be realistic, but I'm glad you seem to be almost done and hope you've learned from this. Miniapolis 16:38, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
- About the "decorations" to make the GOCE in use notification stand out, I hadn't seen any comments from experienced editors about not using them on a FAR page when I put them on. But I get your point.
- Honestly, Miniapolis, I think I can say that more than a case of article ownership, it was simply a case of trying to protect the article after five such edit conflicts had been made on it, something I'd never seen. And I wasn't yet aware that if a copy edit article is also going through a FAR, apparently those editors can jump in to edit any time. Plus perhaps there's an expectation of a quicker turnaround than usual.
- Yes, I've learned from this experience, as from hopefully everything in the journey of life even if it was a little bumpier than usual. In retrospect, I wish I hadn't taken the article on before learning all I did, but handoff is just one final check away. Augnablik (talk) 21:59, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

CS1 error on Jackson-Reed High School
Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Jackson-Reed High School, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:
- A missing title error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. ( | )
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can . Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 07:46, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- I fixed the references as you didn't have access to newspapers.com to get the titles. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:31, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- Once again going totally beyond the expected as a mentor … I'm sure this meant even further sleuthing on your part than merely lurking.
- I had planned to add the missing title once I got a subscription to newspapers.com, but just wanted to get the citation started. The bot caught me first. (It was a bit rattling to get a message from a bot that refers to itself as "I.") Augnablik (talk) 12:35, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
