Improvements

The article could have better organization, such as by separating the "Beyond France" section into different countries instead of having one sentence about a few other countries. In addition, some sources are not reliable or do not even exist anymore, and some facts need citations added. Also, the information is very vague and could go more in depth overall. Major additions and edits (May 2025)

Hello! I'm working on this article for a course assignment and will be making large text additions, edits, and formatting changes to the article between now and May 7. I've taken the Wikipedia editing course so I'll be careful to follow the plagiarism and citation rules. Each change will be attentively noted in 'View History.' I'm almost finished with my additions and edits to the article; see 'View history' for details. Here are some recommendations for other topics you could research and add that may improve the article: the Realism art movement in other countries not currently in the article, public and government reactions and criticism, artist/painting techniques within the individual art movements in each country, Social Realism in printing, and Realism's connections to photography and other future art movements.
