14 exits

Does the Farrer Park MRT Station really have 14 exits as seen on it's page? I have stepped into this MRT station about 3-4 times already (in December 2006) but I was only able to see 4-6 exits. Does it really have 14 exits or was I not keen/observant enough? Acs4b 15:33, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:NS logo.jpg

Image:NS logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hello, hello, hello! Hope your efforts to contact the LTA for Outram Park MRT station have been going well so far (they can take a while to respond though...) Anyways, Imma review this for the May Backlog Drive. Keep in mind I'm new when it comes to reviewing GAN so a bit of paticence is appreciated :) Icepinner (formerly Imbluey2). Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 11:18, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

YOOOOOOO TYSM FOR REVIEWING THIS ARTICLE!!!! =DDD @Icepinner brachy08 (chat here lol) 12:20, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Brachy0008 made my first round of comments, please take a look at them (feel free to disagree with my suggestions given reasonable justification). To be honest, I'm quite concerned about the article in its current stage. Unless if those changes are made within a reasonable timeframe, it may not be a GA (which would be shame, considering you and Zkang's aim of making the NEL a Featured Topic)Icepinner (formerly Imbluey2). Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 06:22, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Icepinner I have addressed some of your points, and will get to the rest ASAP (also got Outram Park MRT station's FA nom =D) brachy08 (chat here lol) 00:27, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's alright, do take your time :) Icepinner (formerly Imbluey2). Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 01:53, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Icepinner i should have responded to most of my points, will be expanding article asap brachy08 (chat here lol) 06:06, 31 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Also @Brachy0008 Zkang gave me some sources that you could use, if you're not already using it. Map (really early), Art in Transit Icepinner (formerly Imbluey2). Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 07:48, 31 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Icepinner i should have addressed most of the points alr brachy08 (chat here lol) 12:42, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Brachy0008 Great! I know you have holidays so do chillout. Afterwards, we'll continue the GA review, unless you wish for someone to carry out those changes on your behalf? Icepinner (formerly Imbluey2). Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 05:56, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Icepinner won't mind if someone continues for me but best leave it as it is for the holiday (will be back around the 18th) brachy08 (chat here lol) 06:42, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Brachy0008 I'm gonna have to unfortunately close this nomination and I say this because I don't think me "failing" you is suitable for this context. It has stalled for 7 days or so (technically even more) and it's almost there to meeting the GAN criteria but the lead isn't completed and there are no citations in the infobox where needed :( I know this may be discouraging for you especially after Outram Park station's FAC but there's honestly not a lot of major rework that needs to be done. Just follow the above comments (as well as focusing on prose and stuff, which is a prominent issue with your past GA and FA nominations) and it should be ready for GAN. In fact, I'll send you a cookie or an equivalent award if you fix these issues and successfully renominate it for GAN. Keep editing and I hope to see this article renominated! :) Icepinner (formerly Imbluey2). Please ping me so that I get notified of your response 07:29, 25 June 2025 (UTC).[reply]
@Icepinner thanks =D
will get to your points as soon as i can brachy08 (chat here lol) 11:11, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

  • The lead is really short and doesn't summarise the article adequately (it leaves out incidents, art in transit, etc). Please add more (including details that will be suggested below or in the near future)

Infobox

Body

History

Station Details

  • Suggest adding more landmarks
    • Added (as well as poening)
  • Is there info for the accessibility of the station as well as if bicycle facilities are available?
    • There is info for accessibility which I copy-pasted from Outram Park MRT station. As for bicycle facilities, not sure about that.
  • Is there any information on the architecture of the station other than the "illuminated toilet seat debate" (that would be a really good DYK, actually)
    • There should be two books that ZKang123 recommended for me to expand Farrer Park and Boon Keng's articles. I managed to take pictures of the pages with the information needed during a visit to the National Library, so I will be expanding them as soon as possible.
  • The lighting in Farrer Park creates an optical illusion that looked like an "illuminated toilet seat", which confused a netizen and sparked online discussion this sentence implies that the architects of the station purposely designed the lighting such that it would look like an "illuminated toilet seat" even though it appears not to be the case. Reword this please.
    • Reworded.
      • Checked the FN again and it says that There’s actually a genius reason the lights are shaped that way.
        • Just add "according to 8days, the light was designed to reflect light since the station has no glass ceiling" or something like that
  • IF you want (since locked articles can only be accessed in the main National Library Building): add more information on the confusion between Farrer Park and Farrer Road stations. Sources: More confusion,Station names, ONE 'FARRER' STATION TOO MANY. I'm not expecting you to go all the way to Downtown just for this but adding all of these would enhance the article

Art in transit

  • Is it possible to expand it? Honestly surprised by how short it is (unless if there are no other sources or details for it). Either way, it needs reworking though. It doesn't sound encyclopaedic imo
    • Yes.
  • It is also known for being the site of Singapore's earliest horse racing turf club that draws its name from nearby street Old Racecourse Road. Is it mentioned in any available source? If so, please cite it. If not, seems to be original research
  • If possible: Add images for one or both of the Art in Transit artwork

Sources

  • Fill out more info for [2]
  • Add page number for [3]&[4]
  • Fill out more info for [6]
  • Add URL access level for [15]
  • Link for [17] is dead
    • Overall I wouldn't recommend using the Infopedia as a source since it's tertiary. Just use the source the Infopedia uses
  • Add archive links for website citations please
    • Went through all the FNs and added the necessary information/archive links. (NewspaperSG is technically a newspaper archive)

hi ABG! i should’ve made some modifications to the arts section :D brachy08 (chat here lol) 13:41, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Brachy0008 Sorry for the sudden stop. I'm going to try to figure out what I was doing and finish this review so that I can figure out what to raise AlphaBetaGamma (Talk/report any mistakes here) 10:48, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
it's alr brachy08 (chat here lol) 00:44, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@AlphaBetaGamma
should have addressed all the points, and yes, nothing happened at Farrer Park MRT station (it's kinda boring just like that new CG5 song) brachy08 (chat here lol) 13:43, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@AlphaBetaGamma addressed the final point :D brachy08 (chat here lol) 11:11, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Initial assessment

  • No copyvio - No problematic hits (scan here)
  • Checked if the previous concerns (lack of sourcing in infobox and incomplete lead) still persists en masse

-Please source the infobox details, as they don't appear to be cited or mentioned in the article body.

In case you don't happen to notice this review, or either way, here's also several concerns (also talked with Icepinner about this):

*WP:NOTNEWS issue with the incident as this seems to be a routine crime report in a railway station. Suggesting the deletion of the entire subsection

  • Way too much detail/WP:WTW in the arts section, I'd delete stuff like Poh merged both styles to create an accessible work that appealed to diverse tastes. and This guiding line leads the viewer through a seamless flow between realistic and abstract forms, creating "a sense of harmony". as they're cited to a primary source and can be easily taken as a breach of NPOV.

Prose (Criteria 1a, 1b, 4)

Lead

Sources Magenta clockclock

Formatting (Criterion 2a)

Reliability (Criterion 2b)

-Most of the sources are what I've seen in other noms (LTA, TST, etc), except for 8days. To be honest that seems usable so I'll just stamp the green mark

Spot check (Criteria 2b, 2c, 2d) Magenta clockclock

-Claims related to platforms in the infobox are unsourced, and prose issues need to be resolved before spotchecks (this is my preference since changes in prose often results in new references or existing ones being removed)

Checked #8, #9, #10, #23, #31. #8, #9, #10, #31 are fine, but the location of the information on #23 is extremely unclear. That needs to be fixed before I give the green light

  • Removed #23

Copyvio (Criterion 2d)

-Scan permalink provided above

Scope (Criteria 3a, 3b)

-Just asking, but did really nothing happen with the station after it opened? Surely something noteworthy has occurred, it has been two entire decades!

Stable (Criterion 5)

-yeah nothing to say here either

Media

-Literally nothing to say about here, the two files were both uploaded by Zkang and there's no problems with those
