Senate motion

Bilby removed the following:

In 2013 the Australian Senate passed a motion calling on the Australian Vaccination Network (AVN) to disband and cease its campaign against vaccines. The motion, put forward by the Australian Greens, "noted the low vaccination rates in parts of Australia and the threat that poses to the health of children".[1] Greens Senator Richard Di Natale said the Senate has sent a clear and strong message to those peddling lies that "they should pack up and go home". The motion says the AVN should cease its "harmful and unscientific scare campaign" against vaccines.[1]

I believe the quotations are de minimis, and the text is clearly important (how many groups have senate otions like this?). Guy (Help!) 00:49, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The entire text is a copy-and-paste from the original article, accounting for half of what was in the original. This and related articles have a significant problem with copyright violations. In removing a copyright violation, there is not necessarily any problem with returning the text once it has been rewritten to overcome the problem, but unfortunately we do need to rewrite the text to address it. - Bilby (talk) 01:17, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Concern about citation for “fringe medical science viewpoint” claim

I’d like to raise a concern about the following statement in the article:

“The vast majority of doctors agree that opposition to vaccination is a fringe medical science viewpoint.” - cited to The Guardian, 2013

While the Guardian article by Dr. Rachael Dunlop strongly criticises anti-vaccination activism and implies that such views are not supported by mainstream medical science, it does not explicitly state that “the vast majority of doctors” hold this view. The citation does not appear to meet Wikipedia’s standard for directly supporting the claim. If I have missed something please let me know. ShadowAdvocate (talk) 06:04, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I just deleted the "vast majority" part. It is not only not in the source, it also weakens the statement and it is bad style. --Hob Gadling (talk) 08:35, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
