English templates

I have a general question: should we consider using either the {{Use Canadian English}} template or the {{Use American English}} template in this article, since the subject was born in Canada but identifies herself as Canadian-American? No discussion is taking place, so I'm implementing the {{Use American English}} template for now unless someone objects. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 17:27, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, the Kickstarter citation is on a spam blacklist when I tried adding archive links to the other citations to prevent any future link rot. Should the Kickstarter link be removed? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 17:24, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

With the caveat that the spam blacklist is so not my thing, I know you can get individual URLs from blacklisted sites placed on the Wikipedia:Whitelist. Maybe worth a trip to its talkpage, @Sjones23? GreenLipstickLesbian💌🦋 17:47, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, maybe so. According to WP:RSP: Kickstarter is a crowdfunding website specializing in funding for new works of fiction. As a primary source, it should usually be avoided for topics involving crowdfunding campaigns where better sources are available. The 2020 RfC gained a consensus for Kickstarter to be placed on the Wikipedia spam blacklist; links must be whitelisted before they can be used. I remember the kickstarter caused a lot of RS discussion at the time. It's often better to say: "The New Yorker reported..." or "The Daily Beast described the situation as..." and use the reliable secondaries to detail the event. BusterD (talk) 18:02, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Found a book discussing it GreenLipstickLesbian💌🦋 09:36, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
