Frater Albertus

Albert Richard Riedel (5 May 1911 – 14 July 1984),[1][2][3] known under the pseudonym Frater Albertus Spagyricus, was a German-American esotericist. Riedel was born May 5, 1911,[3][1] in Dresden, later immigrating to the United States.[1] He wrote several books and other written works and was an influential figure in the world of occult alchemists. His work The Alchemist's Handbook was published in 1960, the same year he founded the Paracelsus Research Society in Salt Lake City, which later evolved into the Paracelsus College. The group ran several periodicals and bulletins, including Essentia, Parachemy, and the Alchemical Bulletin Codex.[1] Riedel was an influence on the English occultist Israel Regardie.[1] Ridel died on July 14,[3] 1984.[1][2] After his death, the college ceased operations in the United States.[4]
